98 ES300 - help, where is the steering universal joint?
Hello all, I could use some help here... I have a steering issue where the wheel sometimes get very heavy, like the power steering has given out. The wheel also seems to get 'stuck' during a turn and doesn't come back to center freely when coming out of a turn.
After searching around on this forum I've seen several people who have had good luck with this problem by lubing the universal steering joint with wd40 or pb blaster. I'd like to try this solution as it seems very easy...but... I have no clue where this universal joint is or what it looks like.
Can anyone help with either a good description of where it is or perhaps a picture?
problem sounds identical to this one:

WD40 on the Universal Joint worked for me
Registered an account just to say that I'm glad the community has a solution for the intermittently stiff steering and not returning to straight when coming out of a turn. Firestone quoted $982.97 to fix the problem by replacing power steering pump and hoses. I'm glad I found this solution.. thanks ClubLexus!
