Default 99 Es300 engine help needed.

I picked up a 99 es300 today with a blown motor and i been calling around to find a replacement.

Most engines are usually interchangable but it seems the 99 es300 is eclusive to only the 99.

Anyone know which will fit in the 99? its a high likelyhood the head and block are the same and only the bolt on stuff are different.

Any help appreciated.

This is from the Toyota parts catalog:

Short block, es300 - 3.0l - 3.0L 99-03 $3,353.19 $2,850.21
Includes: Block, Pistons & Rings, Connecting Rod & Connecting Rod Bearings, Crankshaft & Main Bearings.

Cylinder head, es300, right - 3.0l - 3.0L 99-03 $928.46 $789.19

Cylinder head, es300, left - 3.0l - 3.0L 99-03 $928.46 $789.19

Looks like the 99-03 main block and heads are the same. But I'll guess most of the acessories and electronics are different. Hope this helps out.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

I got the same info using one of the junk yard databases im just more worried why the 99 would only be interchangable for one year. I checked exhaust manifold and intake manifolds and they seem to be the same.

Were the motors from 99-03 the same? [as per above?]

Unless I'm thinking that the '99 had something 'different' about it being the first production year of the VVTI version in the ES300...

^ I'm going to guess it;s something like the '94 1MZ vs the 95-98 ones. The '94 was a 1 year engine, and even the block was SLIGHTLY different. But you can still swap it with a 95-98. But the '99 actually lists at the same shortblock and heads from 99-03.

Actually, the '94, '95, '96, and '97 1MZ engine's are ALL different, as crazy as that sounds. But all the base shortblocks and heads are the same.

I'm sure a lot of the sensors and accessories are different.

The only thing im seeing different or non interchangable is the exhaust manifold they seem to be different.

I will try to get the 03 motor since i believe its when toyota fix the engine sludge issue?

Also not to mention the lower miles.
