Manual Transmission Drain plug tips issues
The drain plugs are very short so it's easy for the socket to **** off angle and for you to strip it. I think the actual part [ie part no] is the same for the fill and the drain, but I do not know 100% [but I think , like 90% sure]. Just call Lexus to confirm. Then tell use here. This particular one was for the filler.
The size is 15/16 inch. yes, inch. don't ask why, cause I can't tell you. Yes, it's definitely in inches. 15/16".
Advice is to use a short socket so that you tend to **** less. Try to keep level. Only 6 pt if you use a socket at all -- but if you can -- best is if you can get a closed end wrench in 15/16" size.
Tip: it was cheaper at Toyota than Lexus, in my area [cherry hill], by 30%. LOL Use the Part Numbers in my receipt when calling Toyota [if you take that advice].
Previous owners/mechanics ruined mine [rounded off] and it was a bear to try to remove. My next was drilling/ reverse bit things to try to remove it -- But it eventually gave way after I used an manual impact driver and over night soaking with pb blaster [penetrate].
As you can see, the washer welded to the plug as one, then, made it harder to remove because think about it the washer is no longer making it easier but instead adding friction to the side of the transmission. Further, the plug was already stripped. Sigh....
