Default ES300 Steering Wheel Compatibility

Hi everyone, I was thinking of upgrading my 97 ES300 steering wheel to a 2001 wood grain wheel, but the guy I'm buy it from says that the plugs aren't the same. Is that true? Because I thought that the 97-01 steering wheels were all the same. Can anyone help me please??!!

there is no difference in plugs for my 98 when i did the swap, so i would assume there is no difference in the 97 either.

Thank you for responding. Do you know what that green wire is for? Apparently it doesn't connect to anything. And is it connected to the wheel or the steering column? Should it come with the new wheel?

Could the green wire be for the AVS suspension? I remember Power6 mentioned that the steering wheel sensor is different on those cars.

My buddy and I installed a '02 Es300 steering wheel on his '00 Camry. If I can remember, there was some wire splicing involved. Other than that, it fits like a glove.

The extra wire/s in the steering wheel plug and unused connector are for the cell phone system, if you got that the buttons for call pickup hangup were mounted on the left side of the wheel. Very rare option but every car had the wiring provisions for it.

I have been in many luxury automobiles, and haven't found a wheel better than the 4ES. However that looks so tacky in the above pic. The wood grain is completetly different.
