Hit & Run repair
Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and a new lexus owner. 05 ES 330, blue onyx. I parked my car in front of my house and someone hit it last Sunday early morning...B@stards! Well now she has a nice scrape on the driver side rear bumper. It's not CPO and I rather not spend the money at my Cherry Hill Lexus dealer. I'm thinking of getting it repainted since it's just a scrape and paint is chipped.
Oh and I need a suggestion on what spoiler to get, I want to get a lip, but it appears that I can't find one for me car. Plus I'm not sure how it would look, can someone direct me to a nice site to check out...Thanks guys!!

I had something similar happen to mine in a mall parking deck. I was quoted 365.00 to have the bumper refinished by a local body shop (in AL). How bad is the damage? You may just be able to use touch up paint.

Wow that's pretty high considering a new bumper is about that much. But I haven't taken it for an estimate yet. I would say the scrape is pretty bad, it runs around the corner and probably measures about a foot. I'm quite upset since I wasn't even in my car. But I don't think touch up paint will work since the hit was pretty hard and I can see the paint starting to crack all around the corner. Thanks for the response gulffishin. My name is Thai btw.
I found the thread on spoliers...sorry for the repeat!

Hey LexGrl702, welcome to CL.
That's a shame your ride got hit. Take it to at least 2 or 3 different places for estimates, also see if you can get a glimpse of cars they are doing or recently done so you can see how good or bad they are. That way you get a better comparison to price/quality.
Good Luck

Thanx for the warm welcome kphu. Believe it or not I am considering taking it to Maaco. My girlfriend took her 02 Acura RSX there 2 years ago to do her front bumper, driver side front panel and driver side door. They actually did a great job matching the paint and it looked good. I'll post some before and after pics for you guys.

I'm sure Maaco is ok, just be sure that whoever you decide to take it to warrants their work. You don't want to be out of luck if the paint starts to flake off after a year or so. Maybe consult your local BBB before making a decision.

aww i know hit and runs, our last car was totalled while parked on the street. that's how we got our lexus i'm so sorry.
no no no on maaco. i had my first junker repainted there about a year before i wanted to sell it, and a WEEK after the warranty expired, the paint started flaking!!! they wouldn't help at all after the 1 year warranty ended. nevermind that it took em 3 times to get the job done right without overspray... yeah i don't recommend them.
go to a long-standing reputable paint shop. someone keyed our 05 toyota and we had to have half the car repainted... we went to a well reputed shop with a LIFETIME paint guarantee that husband's shop sent their body work to. so far it still looks beautiful. i assume you've got decent insurance on it since it's an 05?

thanks powerwave! I appreciate the heads up. Yes, I have state farm full coverage on my baby. I have been with state farm since I sat behind the wheel so they are great. I don't want to use my insurance though since it's just the bumper. I'll just pay out of pocket. I will take your advice and get a lifetime guarantee. I'm still shopping around for a good shop. I have a 1986 300E benz that I painted five years ago, but that was in Virginia.
