Default 19" or 20"?

Hi,

I just want to know about you guys opinions. Do you prefer 19" or 20" rims for ES300 '02? I don't want to be too VIP and low rider, though. I just want them to be just nice, daily use kinda car.

thx.

If I had to choose, it'd be 19s. I prefer function and practicality though. I dislike road/tire noise. You can even fit BBK with 19s and fill it in nicely.

Preferably, I'd go with lightweight 18s with 225/45. I don't like anything under 45, but that's just me.

yeah, its pretty much what youre looking for. even though i prefer less NVH as well, but to get the looks i wanted wasnt achievable.

16's baby......

Well personally I've thought long and hard about getting 19s on my 2000 ES, but before placing the orders i always thought about the negatives with rims. Such as not so good gas mileage, quicker brake wear, and being more prone to flat tires with low pros. Then i just back out and stick with stock. So for me I would say 16s original.

But if u really wanna get rims for looks on ur ES300, I'd say go with a nice set of 19s and drop it an inch. It will look sweet.

So what is bad about 20's on an es300 other than "looking too gangster" o ranything that has to do with looks? Like what does it do to the driving..

Well I used to have 20s and a drop on my old 96 s500 so I'll tell u straight up....

1) I had flats about every other month, but ppl told me i also had bad luck

2) Acceleration is massacred. Top speed is a bit more stable not as much of a gain as the loss though.

3) Gas mileage will go down

4) Brakes wear out much quicker cause it has to stop those giant rims.

And the one plus is that your ride stands out and looks nicer....The things i mentioned might be a bit extreme cause i had my car slammed. But I wouldn't recommend 20s, I would say 18 or 19s with a nice 1 inch drop.

I have is350 18's with 225/40/18s and my gas mileage went up and I only noticed a very small change in acceration. I would not go with more the 19's,20's take away from the over all class of the vehicle. Still personally 18's are my choise

I would go with 18's if you want better performance. 19's and 20's are to heavy.

I do think you can easily get away with the 20s on the newer body styles. Check out post #33 in this thread. His wheels and style are SICK.

oo yeah, that car is nice.. ooh, do you guys know about the offset for both 19" or 20" that will be fit on ES '02? I was having a tough time figuring this out until now. some people suggest 19x8 (f&r); some says 19x8.5(f)&19x9(r). What u guys think? anyway, should the front and the rear offset be the same?
