P0330 and P0171
I had the check engine light for codes P0330 and P0171 come on as well as the TRAC OFF light come on at the same time. I let it go for about 15K miles. It wouldn't shift into OD. Does anyone know if this could cause the transmission to burn up.
I changed the bank 2 knock sensor and cleaned the MAF sensor and the lights both went away. However, prior to doing this I took it to a transmission shop where they told me that the problem I was having was a bad transmission. They rebuilt the transmission, handed me the bill and the car wouldn't shift into OD when I drove it out of the shop. I don't think the transmission needed to be changed. I think that they just didn't know what the problem was and thought they could rip me off with unnecessary repairs. They're claiming that I had two problems: the tranny and the knock sensor. I never had any other problems with the transmission other then it not shifting into overdrive.
