Default Help Needed

I have a 92 ES300 and the engine is in need of replacement. I found a local seller that was selling an engine from a 94 with low miles 87k. I saw the car it came out of and the car was in very good shape. The car was hit in the rear real bad so the title was salvage. The front of the car is in tact though. At the time, I ASSUMED that since both of the car looked exactly alike, I shouldn't have a problem with swapping the 94 engine in my 92 car. Today I noticed that the engines are different upon further review. It's too late as I already purchased the engine from the guy. The engine has the complete wire harness down to the relay box that goes in the engine compartment. I also have all of the motor mounts for the 94 engine.

I haven't done the engine swap yet. My question is will there be any problems with putting the 94 engine in my car? What will I need to make this happen? Is it worth it or should I just sell that motor

The engine will work but I think your biggest problem is going to be the wiring. I'm sure someone else will chime in with more info but yeah you should be able to use it just fine as they are only slightly different engines.

I was wondering if the transmission and CV joint will bolt right up to the 94 engine. You said that the engines are slightly different. Besides, the 94 using coil packs and 92-93 using spark plub wires, and wiring harness, how different are they? I found out that the displacement is slightly different meaning the 92-93 have 2959cc and the 94 has 2995cc which is why I mentioned the transmission matching up with the one from the car.

Cool

The engine, and transaxle, along with all the primary wiring harness & ECU will all need to be replaced.

You ****ed up, not gunna happen without a great expence. Ebay everything you have, or I'll post it on some mr2 board. Lotta people like putting the v6's into mr2's.

I realized that. It's my first Lexus and I didn't know that there were such vast differences.

What a bumer . The engine had a new timing belt. The spark plugs appear to be recent too and I just replaced the valve cover gaskets and put new ones in.

Thanks for the heads up. The engine is officially for sale so feel free to post the information on another board. It would be of great help. I'll take $775 for the engine. But, the buyer pays for the shipping cost. It's not a JDM engine so it will bolt right up to 94 ES300 or other cars that apply.

The problem is that this isn't an engine resell place. The guy bought the car for parts that he needed for his 94 ES 300. He needed a tranny and other parts and since the car was a total lost, he said he got the car for little or nothing. I'll try and keep my fingers crossed.

Bump. The engine is in the classified section. The price has been lowered and at that price, I know it's a steal and somebody needs this.

Question: What do you mean by primary wiring harness? I have the wiring harness down to the small and big fuse box that goes under the hood.
