1996 Lexus ES 300 CD Changer Problem
Hello all,
I have a 1996 Lexus ES 300 with CD Changer problems (well - it doesn't work at all to be exact). The problems with it started a few months ago. I've noticed the past few months that the CD changer is often slow and sometimes even unresponsive in ejecting the CD cartridge. After a few tries though, I always got it out.
Finally, one day last week I went to switch from radio back to the CD player in the car and got nothing. No error message comes up or anything - it simply doesn't switch to the CD player. I've tried ejecting the CD cartridge, but now it doesn't work at all. When I press the button to eject in the trunk I don't hear it even trying to eject the cartridge. The radio/tape player works fine however.
So far, I've tried to diagnose/fix the problem myself - but I've had no luck.
So far I've done the following:
- Checked all fuses related to CD player/radio/tape player audio system. They're all good.
- I've checked to see if there is power in the sockets going into the player - there is indeed power going into it.
On a side note, this is my 2nd CD changer problem. I replaced the original unit with a used unit I got off of e-bay for $100 about a year ago and it was working great until now.
Any suggestions or insight into the problem would be greatly appreciated.

Just say screw it and install a good Pioneer in dash unit-Crutchfield will tell you how to wire it right into your system-I had to do a little re-soldering on some rca cables to be able to use the factory amps/speakers but it beats constantly loading that stupid cd changer in the trunk!
