Check your high pressure hose first and the pump itself is probably leaking too. What year is your car? From 92-94 the 2 speed cooling fan is driven by the P/S pump also. 95 and up have electric fans.

It could be just plain old wear and tear on the high pressure hose. That happened on my wife's 1998 Corolla so my friend and I replaced the pressure hose, drained out the old fluid and replaced with new fluid. Took about an hour to do the job.

How much did you pay for your new hose for this 98 Corolla, Lexusk8?

I paid somewhere around $57 for the hose from Advance Auto Parts. Also paid between $5 and $7 for the Valvoline PS fluid.

Unfortunately, Lexus places a real high value on their ES high pressure power steering hoses.

I had that hose replaced on our 94 ES in March. The cost was $400.00, including labor. The part alone is $325.00 at www.lexuspartsonline.com.

At this same site, the cost on this hose for a 92 model is $284.00.

Well, I just had the power steering leak on my ES 300 fixed and it cost over $700. I needed 3 different hoses. I trust my mechanic so I just had it done. I haven't really noticed any problems since except a few drips here and there but I'm not replacing fluid every 3 days like before when it wasn't fixed. Good luck

I have been having the same issue with my 94 ES300 for months now.. got the high pressure hose replaced. All was fine for a while... until there was a sudden loss of all steering fluid...

went to my local Firestone where i got it fixed last time.. they can't locate the actual leak.. so i am running on a trace dye for a few days.

Any ideas on what could be issue now... my hunch is that the bottom of the reservoir is cracked...

Check your 2 lines that feed the cooling fan. The hydraulic cooling fan is run by the P/S pump. Firestone might have overlooked that.

I replaced the power steering pump when I replaced the engine. The old one was leaking. Somehow a part of it got bent, which caused the leak. Luckily the engine I ordered came with a working pump
