Default Mark II vs ES300

Anybody spotted a JDM Toyota Mark II on the road?
I drove up behind one the other day and thought it was an ES until I got closer. Then I figured it must be a Camry but no, it was a really sweet looking Mark II.
It was white like the pic but was two-tone, white with light grey cladding like on the 2nd and 3rd generation ES300.
I think they were like in between the Camry and the ES300 for options and trims. The new version is the Mark-X which to me doesn't look as good as the older models.

Any other pics of the front, etc.? I've never even heard of this car. The back end is quite...dapper.

Default More Mark II Pics

Obviously not all the same car, but different views of the Toyota Mark II
Easy to see how it could be mistaken for an ES300.
I'd never heard of them either until I noticed one on the road

I LOVE the grille! Is that another same-as-the-ES variant? If I block out the grille with my finger I can almost make it an ES.

Cool

Mark II is the Japanese Toyota Cressida. It shares nothing with the ES (Camry paltform), but for several years they looked almost identical.
Cressida = yummy sleeper. rwd, supra parts bolt on. 2.5L 1jz-gte was nice.

the Mark II is a great car. it is the same as the Chaser, and the cresta. the one you have a pic of is in grande trim. they came in many trims ;grande, avante(i think), tourer S, but the tourer V is the only one you need to worry about. a couple of turbos=JZX90 (single in the 96 or 97 and up =JZX100) make it a super sleeper. i get to drive one everyday and the ES wishes it was that fast..
