Thanks to OP Woogie for the comprehensive write-up. An excellent tutorial.
The part has increased to $130 shipped, but I'm surprised and happy Pioneer still stocks the part. Woogie's part number worked perfectly for my '99 ES.
One tip: don't forget to peel off the clear protective adhesive Pioneer puts on the display window. If I hadn't noticed a small air bubble, I might have left it on. Disassembling the radio gave me a good chance to check out the "innards". I was specifically looking for bulging or distorted capacitors; happily, I found none.
One other note: when pulling off the plastic front radio cover, pull straight out. There are two electrical connections being disconnected at the bottom of the front panel. It might fight you a small bit.
If you have burned out LEDs in the temp panel below the radio, this is a great time to disassemble that panel and replace them. very simple twist in and out. Mine are fine, but I still twisted them in and out a few times for a good electrical cleaning.

Woog post still works for 99 ES300
Thanks for your post as the part number had not changed but the price did. It was $139 shipped from Japan.

Power removal before work?

Did not remove power
I did not remove power and still everything worked out very well. I just followed the steps mentioned and replaced LCD. It is over 4 years now and new LCD still working well.

LCD replacement
Thanks for the invaluable info! I have ordered the LCD display and now eagerly await it's arrival. I am amazed that I can still get the original Pioneer LCD for my 1997 ES300. OP Woogie gets the most Kudos for making this job possible for me but all the participants in Clublexus deserve honorable mention too! Long live Clublexus.com!!

is the partnumber the same for the 92-96 ? CWM4319, i would like to know as i have seen a 96 parts car with a radio thats still in good condition i would like to know if i can swap the lcd into my 98 es300

2019 help on the CWM4319 can’t find the LCD anywhere
Carefully removed the whole A/C - Radio console. However, make sure you lay some small towels in between the ash tray and the shifter so you dont scratch anything.
So now that you have the radio out, remove the *****. the ***** actually help keep the face plate on so be sure to remove them. All you have to do it pull them out firmly and they'll come right out.
Remove the bolts. Removing the Radio from the A/C and the mounting bracket makes working a whole lot easier and it only takes an extra couple minutes. I forgot to circle the tabs, but you can see the tabs that hold the faceplate onto the radio in this picture. They're to the left of the mounting bracket. Carefully remove the faceplate lifting the tabs.
This is what you'll have once you remove the faceplate. You'll have to disconnect the LCD interface cable. It's pretty tight on there, but dont be afraid to pull, but try to pull on the white plastic piece and not on the wires themselves.
Remove this screw and the screw on the opposite side. These screws hold the LCD screen in place.
The Broken Screen.
There you have it, folks. Pop in the new LCD and put everything back together and you're good to go. I saved myself a couple hundred bucks by doing this myself and the best part is that it only took me about an hour or so Vs. the one week that the dealership quoted.

Hello All, i got my 1999 es300 6 months ago from a friend. i noticed that the central radio lights were not working. i have been trying for sometime to get the replacement parts from . Looks like all been discontinued even the removable bulbs are not available. Any help will be appreciated

I just double checked the Lexus part numbers and it appears this one is discontinued:

I think at this time your best bet is to switch to a modern radio unit. Maybe something that has CarPlay or similar.
It’s a real bummer not being able to source replacement parts and I wonder how long my radio will continue to work before I have to make the same decision. It’s just the reality of owning a car that’s over two decades old.
