I am seriously considering these two external modifications.

Steve-
The only thing that bothers me about the chrome trunk bar is that Toyota Camry's use them. I guess Toyota wanted to give the Camry more flash, whereas Lexus decided to be more subdued. In other words, I don't want my car looking like a Camry.

Steve,

amf makes a very fair point........however, aren't the side visors a bit steep in price? You can get the Weathertech set for $89.95. click the link: I'm not 100% sure what the difference (quality wise & the like) are between the 2.....or perhaps even others.

I dig both of those mods... But if I were to pick one, I'd go with the visors.

Alan, I hear you. I totally love the chrome strip on the 05 ES. It is attractive but yet subtly understated and yet chrome. However, it is not offered in the 1C0 color code of my car.

Bren, I looked at the weathergard strips and they stick out to the sides more than I desired. The jdm ones on l-tunedparts.com are almost flat against the side of the car. The major dilemna here is that the stirp will cover most of the upper chrome strip on the door. Unlike the black door edge on the Windom in the picture, my door edges are chrome.

time to flip the coin.

That stuff is kinf of tacky, i'd stay away from it on a luxury car. The chrom may not be THAT tacky but it would look weird unless you had a lot of other chrome on the car.

I agree about the "tacky" look on the rear chrome strip, but the side visor strips would be useful in the rain, when you want to crack the window open a bit.

Agreed amf.....go for the l-tuned Steve. the 92 - 01 ES don't have that option as you know because of the frameless windows.....but I did have them on my 91 olds.......it's a nice feature.

I voted before I read that the camry's use the chrome trunk bar. Personally I still like it even if the camry uses it.

As for the deflectors, ive never liked them. some of the GS guys have them and i've never been too keen on them. I used to see them on trucks alot around town. Just doesnt look that good to me, I like the clean look without them.

Of course it's your car, so if you like them, go for it!

Steve,

My personal opinion is if you get the visors, the best thing you can do to enhance everything on the car (which includes the paint & the visors) is to put a 'light' (35% all around) quality charcoal tint..........would that silver ever look sharp then! just my 2 cents.

one thing about the Camry trunk bar is that it has a big key hole in it. This one won't. small stuff I know, but it helps me justify.

still thinking.

thanks for all the opinions. They are all very helpful.

DO NOT put the visors on. They look so retarded. IMO

www.l-tunedparts.com, are they for real? The list that blue ES's kit for sale but I thought that guy bought seperates for a Camry and have heavy mods done to it so it would fit? Help!

I'm currently also debating about getting the side wind deflectors from WeatherTech. Their visors sit inside the window sill rather that being taped on the outside. I think their website has a picture of a silver ES with the visors installed. It looks pretty good because it doesn't hide the chrome parts.
