Default Transmission Hits

Hi,

I have bought 93 ES 300 and the previous owner told me that the transmission is recently rebuilt. When I start driving and the car changes from 1st to 2nd it feels like someone has hit the car from behind. Also the problem occurs only at <2000 RPM. Over 2200 RPM the gear changes smoothly. Other gears change smoothly. I looked at the transmission fluid it seems to be clean on transmission stick.

Is it a common problem in 93 ES 300 or there is something I can do to fix it.?

Any suggestions?

My 92 ES just like yours. Feels like it's has a shift-kit in it. I learned to deal with it cuz it's only a work car. I bought it off my mom last December 2002 with 75,000 and now it has over 90,000 and the trans is still working. I just change the trans fluid about every 4 months just to have clean stuff in there and get the garbadge out and get a few extra thousand miles out of it. Hopefully it will last for a few more thousand miles before it totally takes a crap on me and then I might buy a new trans. Until then, I will drive it and ignore the rought 1-2 shift.

I thought it might be one of the trans or engine mounts. I replaced a badly worn top engine mount and that didn't help. I check the others and they look fine. However, I don't know how many there are. Can some one please let me know how many mount there are holding the trans and engine in the car so I can check them. And their location.

Default transmission slipping

I have a 1993 es300 and it slips at 4000 sometimes to 5000 rpm's. I was wondering why that does that? I bought the car and it did that. Is it because the previous owner didn't take care of it or what? Because I would like to know why such a nice car has a problem like this?
