Ran the 1/4 last night. Car was not running to great really. Despite being 70-75 degrees, the humidity was 100%!

Do have a new best though, haven't scanned the slips yet.

Ran a 12.516, a 13.372 (tires spin) and a 12.531.

The best 1/8 time was 8.058 compared to the 7.87 I ran with better weather last week.

I hope to try again next week Friday.

Also, the Nittos are officially worn out (in 5 months!). So, I bought some new tires. I had great 60ft times with the 275 - 40 - 17 Sumitomo's so I decided to go back to them. Although, I went with the 315 - 35 - 17.

Didn't go to the track last night, weather was way too questionable to make the 1.5 hour drive.

Gonna try and make it out to Darlington this coming Wednesday night though. The forecast (for now) is clear, cool and dry.

video was mad annoying.

Congrats on the build. Good numbers.
Wish it was easy to get our vehicle's weights...i'd like a thread of all different engine/transmission/dif settings with their weights, power, and 1/4 numbers.

Bad news guys. Went to the track last night and blew the transmission. Second gear is toast.

Trying to find a low mileage replacement, if anyone know where I can get one please LMK asap!

Sorry to hear that, Khris. You have too much torques and power at low end. The bigger valve body couldn't help much. Instead of buying a used or even a new OEM tranny (that'll break again) for let's say $400 plus shipping charge, you can get a complete strong hi-performance rebuild kit for $350 and pay a tranny specialist about $350-$400 to put the kit in.

Well, in all fairness, the VB wasn't put in until somewhat recently.

Could you link to where you bought that kit or give me some contact info?

For now, I'll likely put my original trans back in. I work in a shop so it won't cost me anything except a couple of hours time. It didn't really die, just hit the limiter. I'm sure it's on its way out but better than what I've got now. Good solution until I find a better one.

i was just reading through your thread and wondering how much power these trannies can hold...
how much power were you making when you ran that 7.8 in the 1/8th?

I'm not really sure. I made 350rwhp awhile back but have done quite a few mods since then. I was trapping at 106 at the time. I now trap at around 112 so probably pretty close to 400 on the ground.

One thing that needs to be kept in mind though, I beat the heck out of it. I made over 120 passes with this transmission. If I drove it like a normal person and didn't always drag it, it would likely have lasted MUCH longer.

Thanks Steve, not sure yet what I'm going to do but it helps to have options.

Quick update.

I still had my original 95 trans sitting at the shop so I decided to swap it in. Figured it would be better than the slipping unit.

I flushed the trans before removing it to clean out the valve body (IPT) and the convertor (PI Dragon). Removed it and swapped over the VB and TQC to the 95 trans. Installed the transmission and filled it up with Dexron III. Much to my surprise it's shifting awesome at the moment. Better than the 96 did before I killed it.

I will likely flush it out again tomorrow just because.

Another update.

Went 7.909 (1/8) this past Sunday and the transmission (my original 95 unit) seems to still be ok for now.

I'm crazy, as some of you may already have guessed, and I bought a used pair of MT ET street radials in a 255/50/16 mounted onto a set of stock Mustang alloys. Gonna possibly go to Jefferson-Pageland dragway tomorrow night and see what I can do.

Also, I have emailed this company - http://www.atfbilletparts.com/toyota...smission-p-403 - they sell an upgraded sprag and are the cheapest I've seen for a "built" tranny.

You guys are not going to believe this but I think I may have broken my PI TQ convertor this morning.

I was on my way to work, merging onto the highway. I downshifted to 3rd to get around the slow poke in front of me. The transmission upshifted back to forth and then, all of a sudden, the engine is free wheeling. No noise, no warning, nothing. Pulled over to the side and have nothing. Engine running, no pull from the transmission in any gear or shifter position!

Got towed to work (thanks AAA). My first instinct is that the convertor busted so I am going to put my stock unit back in. Was busy today so only got about half way through the job, should finish tomorrow.

Man, this sucks.
