Default LED turn signal relay mod (modify your OEM relay instead for best results)

Some of you who have modded Toyota or Lexus cars to use LED turn signal bulbs know that you get hyper blink and the traditional way to modify your car to blink normally is to purchase an aftermarket "JDMstar" or JDMToy relay. There's different names for it but they're all the same relay sold by the same maker from China. The problem with these "Toy" relays is they blink LONG once activated then blink normally after that. And if you have the blinker on long enough (say at a light) sometimes they will start to go wonky and blink weird/inconsistently. I think what happens is as the aftermarket relay internal heats up the internals responsible for the blinking behavior tend to alter the blinking behavior. I'll have to open the aftermarket piece up to see what it looks like inside. i'm sure it's nowhere near as nice as the stock relay.

Well buried deep within some Amazon comments on those relays someone mentioned they simply modified the OEM relay using a resistor that costs 10 cents. You simply replace this bent "U-shaped" bar with the resistor. It solders in place. Took me one minute to do. And voila the car blinks like normal using the stock relay. The clicky sound is back to normal too. You may be able to source the resistors from your local hobby shop but I found like a 50 pack online for 5 bucks shipped. It comes from China so you'll have to wait a couple weeks. Hope this helps!

The resistor spec you'll need is: 0.1 Ohm 1/2W 1%

Replace chrome "U-shaped pin" with resistor. easy.

Or to make it easier here is the resistor I bought: https://amzn.to/2Z5Hqto

I wouldn't mind upgrading my turn signals to LEDs.
The item in the link you've provided is no longer available.
You think this will work?
Amazon Amazon
Where are these relays located? <-- I recently (last week) purchased a blue 2016 CT 200h F-Sport (like the one in your avatar).
I also noticed the stock turn signals don't make any "clicking" sounds.
Will this somehow add that back?
Thanks.

As long as they are " 0.1 Ohm 1/2W 1%" then yes they should work.

the resistor mod allows you to use LED turn signal while keeping stock relay function. it doesn't add or subtract anything from how stock operates whatsoever.
