Default Light Utility Trailer Towing - CT 200h

Hello!

I am considering the purchase of a 2015 or 2017 CT 200h and I would truly value the consensus as to towing a light utility trailer with this vehicle. While I know an aftermarket hitch is available for the CT, I've read conflicting reports about towing with Hybrid vehicles.

I own an ultra-light (400 lb) utility trailer utilized for weekend camping trips and to transport my mobile DJ business (part-time business) equipment. At the end of the day, the total weight of the trailer to include equipment would not exceed 650 lbs.

Before I make a vehicle purchase decision, I would truly value any insight as to the potential to utilize a CT 200h for my basic towing needs. I have always admired this vehicle and based upon my limited towing occurrences on flat terrain in San Antonio Texas, I am hopeful the CT can be the right fit.

Thank you kindly for your time and response to this inquiry as this is the first time I have posted on a forum.

With Appreciation,

Justin

Justin,

Think of it like this, I load up my car with a cargo box and 4 passengers and I swear my wife Packed everything. 4 suitcases that weight 45# and cargo inside and people. I'm about 500#payload.

I don't think the CT would be a problem for light duty. Heck. If you get one with low miles and under factory warranty..... Do it, if it blows up... Tow it to the dealership but pull the tow hitch before it goes lol.

After all it is still a gallon engine running the car and driving the front two wheels.

I think you would be fine with such a small trailer.
The Toyota Auris in Europe has the same drivetrain as the CT200h and it is rated to tow 760 lbs.
I know that's a ridiculously low rating but I once had a Suzuki Alto that was rated to tow 440 lbs.

Thanks so much for taking the time to provide feedback! My logic is if my trailer with equipment falls in-line or under the vehicle weight capacity specifications, the CT would not know the difference. Thank you again for your time and have you found your CT has enough power as a whole? I know it is not designed as a sports car, however, I also hope it has enough power as a whole.
