2017 CT 200h Towing Capacity

This is the NX forum. You will be more likely to get an answer in the CT forum. Having only briefly driven a CT, I believe you are looking at the wrong vehicle if you need to tow anything. Just my opinion, but clearly the wrong vehicle for towing. It would make a good vehicle to be towed however, say behind a motor home

I doubt the CT even has the capability to tow anything with 134 total system horsepower. The torque figure is probably so low that Lexus is too embarrassed to publish it.

Adding a towbar or hitch is risky as both Lexus and Toyota express the CT is not suitable for towing, as it could damage the electric drive which could be costly especially as I doubt you'd get any re-compensation from the manufacturer. Now there are aftermarket companies that claim their hitches can handle 2000lbs, I'd just look at the reviews of owners of the products to see if they've had any issue with towing something. But they do make class I, II, III etc hitches

I installed a Curt class I receiver hitch from etrailer.com on our Prius v (the North American Prius+) but we currently use it only for carrying a bike rack since we have a Toyota Sienna with a class III hitch that we use for towing. That said, I wouldn't be at all reluctant to tow my 4'x8' utility trailer behind our Prius since it was barely noticeable during the hundreds of times I towed it behind behind a 65 hp midsize Mercedes sedan.
etrailer.com has class I hitches for the CT starting around $100 and a plug-and-play trailer light harness for about $50. Both should be easy to install. There are a number of threads about towing on the Prius Chat forum that might be helpful.

Auris with similar powertrain is rated to tow 450 kg / 1000 lbs in some countries. I have original tow bar for bike rack, but the bar seems so weak that I wouldn't attach a trailer on it.

You'd be shocked to see what gets towed by what in Europe. The reason why you don't see it in North America, is because of our litigious nature....especially in the US. My LS has 380 hp and scads of torque, yet in Canada, it's not rated to tow (by Toyota), even though A Curt hitch is available (class 3). But if you go to Europe, you'll see cars like mine towing 25ft+ "caravans".
