Advice on backup camera, which to buy and install
Have 2013 CT and want to add a backup camera. I prefer more of a factory look as opposed to the license plate bracket type. Ideally it would be the factory type camera and the screen in the rear view mirror.
Also considering GPS/Backup camera options as well. This would give us navigation as well. Anyone have any luck with this setup?
Any advice on what my options are, or what you would install.
Thank you in advance for you advice.

Ron thank you for the response.
Going to take some time and put together options. I am considering Garmin 2589LMT and the BC30 Garmin camera combo.
Will give us navigation when needed, it is a small unit so can mount it up in the lower corner of windshield. Only thing I do not like is the camera mounting to the plate. I prefer to use the factory area to mount the camera.
Will continue to search.

That Garmin camera looks gigantic lol. And you originally said you wanted a screen in the rear view mirror, so that's why I listed the parts I used. I'd recommend just going to a few car shops that sell/install aftermarket parts and seeing what they have.
Since the door hatch door handle is right in the middle where a perfectly centered camera would be, you might be better off with the license plate camera since a mounted camera would have to be installed at an angle. And, from experience, the angled view was somewhat annoying to calibrate.
Let us know what you choose and post up some pics!

Ron,
You are correct, still learning towards the rear view mirror setup like you have. Is the cleanest look no doubt.
5" is the smallest screen I could find on the Garmin unit. We would use navigation sporadically. Just trying to present options prior to purchase.
I appreciate the feedback.
