Always CHECK YPUR OIL AND OFTEN!!!

You are not understanding my direction .... Lexus is under no obligation to fix a car at the OP's miles. Lexus does however have a history of helping loyal owners that both purchase many cars and also long term dealer servicing them. Part of the Lexus service is to check for problems -- and to check the oil prior to the service. If they car was using or leaking oil it should/ would have been noted. A car with no history of oil use ... using all it's oil in 3k -- is unusual. Would this happen to me? .. no. Do I check my oil after a service -- yes. Do I check my oil during a long trip ... yes. Would I ask corporate to help me solve this problem after being served within 3k .... yes.

The OP has not been back -- so who knows.

Default Same issue 2013 Engine Ruined!

Got the oil changed less than 5k miles ago. Was driving home from gym. Car had rough idle, then check engine light came on. Pulled over immediately and checked oil... completely dry. Parked car, added 2 quarts and tried to drive to mechanic 4 miles away. Car was was vibrating and misfiring and had no power. Parked it, called tow truck. Mechanic said there was oil in the spark ⚡️ plugs. They said it would get worse and that best solution is to replace engine! Changed the spark plugs and was able to drive it home. Now it sits. I felt really bad until I read your post.

My expectation is at least a red warning light. What a terrible experience. Would not have bought car if I knew about the oil burning issue. Will call Toyota Corp tomorrow but don’t expect anything. I will fix then sell or trade in as soon as possible.

Last week he was driving across New Mexico and instantly, all sorts of lights came on and his engine quit. After waiting 3 hours in desert for tow truck to arrive, we had it towed to dealership in Albuquerque. We learned the engine was seized and apparently had no oil in it. We were told they had to add 4 quarts of oil to run the diagnostic and there was no evidence of leaks (particularly around the oil filter or oil plug). The service tech mentioned a service bulletin mentioning something about the possibility of the car burning up to a quart of oil every 1000 miles. My local dealership claims they filled up the car with oil properly and that the car likely just burned all it's oil and caused the motor to seize. No oil pressure or low oil lights ever came on. We have not seen any evidence of 'oil burning' previously with this car. My son did mention an "oil service req'd" notice popped up on his information panel (which we assumed indicated the service technician just didn't reset the oil change meter).

We're a Lexus family and have owned 4 Lexus's and have been very happy with the cars and the service from our local dealership. I was a bit surprised by the response from our local dealership and believe I'm in for quite a battle.

Questions: 1) has anyone had a similar experience? 2) has anyone dealt with this "oil burning" issue? 3) has anyone had success or advice dealing with similar issues?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Dave
Yes! I am going through this right now. I have a 2013 Ct 200h. I bought it in 2018 certified pre used at Lexus. I am meticulous with oil changes and maintenance. The car was running fine, so signs or signals until 2 days ago. I start the car, move out of my parking spot...the car is vibrating & making a lot of noise. I pull over and check for a flat tire. The engine light came on, I brought it back to my parking spot. The car was towed to Lexus yesterday. I receive a message today, stating no oil was in the engine. My car has less than 100K miles

My friend has a similar problem with his CT. No warning, made a lot of noise ( on 95!!!!) and it was determined this was due to lack of oil in the engine.
I'm thinking this is a manufacturer issue.
