Default Worn leather seats

Our 22,000 mile 2012 CT with factory leather seat option is showing wear on the side bolsters of both front seats. The dealer took pictures today and sent request to Lexus to authorize repair or replace seat leather.

Is anyone else having issues?

i dont have leather seats, but my leather steering wheel looks terrible after only 14k miles so i can definitely see it being possible that they used cheap leather

i had the exact same thing on both bolsters when i turned the car in on lease two weeks ago. it looks like cracks in the material. i was wondering if the side bolster was really leather or if it's some kind of synthetic. seems to be very thin in this area.

i thought it might be the way i slide into the seat (which is normal), but then the passenger side showed the same wear too.

Im curious to know too. I heard the nuluxe seats don't wear out, compared to leather. Is this true?

All car leather seats have a coating, usually polyurethane, over the leather. The cracks are in the top coating, not the leather. There are cleaners and treatments to reduce the appearance of the cracks. It happens to most Lexus vehicle side bolsters. There are a few threads about it under other vehicle forums here at CL.

I redid front and back in my 94 with covers from Leatherseats.com. It took a few days to do them working part-time. They look and smell great. I did find that trying to get hog rings in all the tight places was a real pain. Instead, I used wire ties which made the job much easier. The end product is worth the effort.
