Default Visual Garage Sharkfin Antenna

Installed my sharkfin antenna just now. Got it from CT 200h Chat forums, but if you want it factory direct, the company is Visual Garage in British Columbia, Canada. Turnaround time for painting and color matching is 2-3 weeks.

Also had the car tinted, 17% in back, 35% in front by California Tint in Rosemead, CA yesterday.

Cleaned out my car, Guy from VIP Auto Salon should be picking it up tomorrow so that they can use it as a guinea pig for the next two weeks. I'm nervous. Apexi will be using it to get measurements for their springs and coilovers, so hopefully the data will help speed development up. Vorsteiner will be using the car to help fabricate a kip kit or whatnot. Never given up my car for that long. Looks like I'll be back on the Metro to get to work and back!

Before: Stubby antenna:

After: Sharkfin antenna:

Install process:

I'm gonna miss my baby...

Didn't notice any changes in reception on AM/FM/SAT or eDestination. Dunno if there are any effects on GPS yet.

Looks awesome, Matt. Both the tint and fin.
Tint really ties everyhing in. By the way, VIP Auto Salon is getting ready to move over off Western Ave still in Torrance.

VIP Auto Salon has been operating in Orange for some time now. They have departed Torrance a while back already.

Looks awesome. I'd like to change my antenna to a sharkfin as well. I just had my windows tinted as well. I just need to give her a wash and I'll post some pictures...

Do you give them your paint code and they paint it or do you have ot actually send a color sample?

They base it off the paint code. I don't think they go as far as VIN matching, but they're pretty accurate based on the paint code. Mine was 077 for Starfire Pearl. 100% match as far as I'm concerned!

flipside909 - my bad, you're right. I miss-read. Was thinking of Status Autoworks in Torrance. They're moving. Good catch.

I have the Shark Fin Antenna on my Prius and I must say it's probably the easiest and most-OEM looking modification you can do.

Matt,

like your choice of colour and the tinting, I'm driving the same colour here in Australia.

Unfortunately regulations here in Australia don't allow the level of tinting that you've installed. If it's too dark and you get stopped by the cops they'll dish out a ticket.

I'm tempted to order the shark fin for my car, what's the cost?

By the way, what's that on the fuel tank filler?

Steve
