transfer of ownership / release of liability

transfer of ownership / release of liability
CL, quick question I have regarding transfer of ownership or release of liability during a sale of a car here in the golden state.
I've sold numerous cars before off the street and have experienced this problem a handful of times over the years.
here is a current instance.
I sold my LS400 months back, did a bill of sale, and a release of liability the same day online to the DMV, and even took it off my insurance the same evening.
since then I have received by mail parking and street sweeping violations certainly by the new owner, indicating to me they have not transferred the car to their name yet.
to remedy the violations against my name, I simply check a box on the violation form and show proof that the vehicle is sold via bill of sale and release of liability which has the new owner's name and address.
another instance of the new owner failing to transfer the car to their name is that I would receive multiple notices from the DMV that the sold car is not insured according to their records...
other than contacting the new owner, do I have another option at the DMV perhaps to transfer the ownership of the vehicle myself, to avoid further hassle?
I know it's the new owner's responsibly to do this but I wanted to see if there is something else I can do.
thanks in advance for any insight folks!

I think (and don't quote me on this) that the vehicle has to belong to someone, legally speaking. Hence, if the new owner does not take ownership of the transferred vehicle, anything that triggers record-keeping will be referenced back to you, the last known owner. You may be legally and financially relieved of responsibility, but the last known registered owner is you, so things will always come back to you. I don't think there is another option to remedy this.

That is my interpretation as well. The buyer has not registered nor insured the vehicle so the records point to you. You've done the proper paperwork.
