Default LA CRESCENTA/SGV questions

Hello there

Need a little help for my brother, who is moving to SGV for a job.

Work will be in Pasadena.

He is thinking of living in La Cresenta/Montrose OR Arcadia.

Has two elementary kids, so school quality is paramount.

I went to some open houses with him. Some observations:

ARCADIA:
Seemed more urban
His budget gets him townhouse
All flat
But mall is close by and shopping (not required for them)
Arcadia schools seem fancier from outside
Heavy Asian Population

LA CRESCENTA:
More quiet
Suburban
Hilly area (they like that)
Heavy Caucasian Population
Less shopping (they are happy with it)
Tiny single family homes

They would live in the area 7-9 years

Any thoughts you guys have would be excellent, who live in the area.

Ive lived in La Crescenta for a while and enjoyed it a lot! Arcadia is going to be more expensive (depending on the area). LC feels a lot less crowded. If I were to choose between the two, I would go with LC, but also depends on where they work. As for schooling, a lot of my relatives went to Village Christian (private school) in Sun Valley, they all came out going to Berkeley, SC, grad school etc... Education system there is very good.

Thank you Josh.

Work is in Pasadena.

LC schools have high API scores, and are rated 10. Same as Arcadia schools it seems.

They want public schools, and Pasadena schools aren't much to write home about

You can try south pasadena. Good school district but the homes are freaking expensive. Maybe you can get a small condo there.

You can also look into temple city. More affordable and decent school district. Not as good as arcadia or south pas. You can get a decent home tho.

I live in Temple City with Arcadia school district. Certain parts of Temple City have Arcadia schools.
