Not true at all. You can request traffic school at the end if you lose. But if you hire an attorney you will not lose.

Usually initial consultations with lawyers are free, so you might just call some guys in the phone book and see what the hourly is and how many hours it'll take.

I would not take a guilty plea (traffic school) unless I had exhausted all opportunity to get the ticket tossed out.

if it only costs me around $150 to get an attorney, then I'll like to get one,,
but first, of course I'll like to hear what an attorney has to say about the
possibilities of him winning the case..
this is my first ticket, so i wouldn't mind going to a traffic school in order to
not get any points on my record..but for now, I want to fight for it!
has anybody done a trial with a written letter??

Weigh all your options, but in the end it comes down to money and points on your license. I got a ticket last year, but I did not have the time to fight it. Went to traffic school (online) and pled it out. Overall it wasn't much less than the ticket cost ($155 in TX), but it was the most expedient way to go, and no points on record. Don't get hung up on 'principal', it is the bottom line you are concerned about. Time is money, unless you are independently wealthy.

^I'm not independently wealthy, I'm a student so how wealthy can I be??
but yes, I know time is also money, but luckly the court date is
right after my summer school final, so I'm luck that I have time to show up
for the court date..
I guess I first need to find out how much the fine will be,
and also need to find out how much it will cost to get an attorney..
but thanks everyone!! and please share your opinion

all you have to do is request for extension(s), i believe they let you do it twice with the person at the counter and the 3rd is through the judge. By this time a year has pass and i highly doubt the officer will remember your case nor will they show for the court date. it works for me 90% of the time when i was getting tickets galour!
