The collision center at Longo did the top passenger side fender where it joins the A-pillar on ours long ago. Match is near spot on and blended to not be visible to me. Depends on the skill of the paint guy too even with all the techno devices to attempt a match. I took ours later to a shop known for high end show jobs when I wanted to shave the emblems. He relayed that I would be better off spraying the whole car. 50-50 chance.
So long as you care for the paint within reason and if the car is garaged your odds improve. As new as your '16 ES is, no worries at this point. When you hit 7-20 years that's when the odds become challenging.

Good Body Shop For A Re-Paint...
I live in Los Angeles and I would I would like to get my 2008 LS460 re-painted, smokey grey granite.
A local, well reviewed body shop on here quoted me 7500.00 plus cost of any parts they need to replace.
I think that price is very nigh for a re-paint
Can anyone recommend any shops that will not cost me an arm and a leg ?

Depends on how they are painting it. Painting the entire car is not cheap, especially if done right, where they disassemble the car to also paint the engine bay, door jambs, etc.

I've had a few cars repaired and painted at Westminster Collision Works. The owner Minh, specializes in Lexus and Toyota cars and he paints many cars for Lexus of Cerritos. I've brought three types of Lexus pearl whites to him and each time he matched them perfectly. When my fiancee brought her Aurora White Pearl 2010 RX450h in to get the bumpers repainted, Minh recognized the color immediately even though that paint code was only offered for one year. He really knows his stuff. His front desk staff is very friendly and accommodating and his prices are reasonable.

I just went through all 800 posts. I live in Santa Monica, and need my bone stock RX in pearl white worked on.
A couple of questions:
A broader question is, how seriously do I need to search for body shops given that it’s a stock car with small amount of damage? Should I just go with whatever the insurance recommends? I’m with State Farm by the way
thx
A couple of questions:
- Is platinum VIP still the place to go? Even for non custom work?
- Same question for Beto
- I see good recommendations for Longo Lexus. Any thoughts about Beverly Hills Lexus, which is closer?
- I see conflicting information for Makito Nakai, there is a shop in Torrance, Seven Apple, and there is a shop in Rancho Cucamonga which is Shine auto Project. Am I conflating two people together, or which is the most up-to-date shop for Makito?

Stay away from Beverly Hills Lexus at all costs... they cracked my windshield, broke my cup holder, and broke my glove box so it does not open now. They take zero pride in their work. They are the worst, absolutely the worst. I hear Santa Monica Lexus is night and day better.

Using the insurance co's recommended shop can be hit-miss. Granted that with company's like AAA you get a near lifetime and satisfaction guarantee on the repair. Which IMO like like buying lifetime warranty parts for the mass auto parts store. A sure bet that in a year I'm going to be displeased or have some issue with the repair that comes up.
Dad used what AAA suggested in the area that was convenient. They over-sprayed the wheel well, wheel/tire and they were missing a few internal clips/fasteners. To dad they did good though because his car was now looking "right". One of his tail light bulbs blew a year or so later so I went to fix it for him and that was how I found there were missing fasteners for the internal trunk panel liners. The tail light was held with 2 fasteners opposed to the installed 4 screw studs. Two years later the clear coat they applied it began to yellow and flake off. I told dad to take it back and have them re-spray it. He said no, he can live with it. I wasn't happy so I went to look up the company an call them...guess what. No longer in business and dad was not about to file a claim to fix it.
After 2 years on the Corolla repair I'm still pleased with the work done at Beto's shop. They've sprayed the bumpers on the LS long ago and no complaints to this day.
