I just heard on the radio (I-94 FM) this morning that the biker clubs are doing their own Toys For Tots cruise for a local community this year.

Someone said that the toys collected by the Marine Corps' Toys For Tots are packed up and shipped to the mainland...for mainland kids....not for local Hawaii kids.

Can anyone confirm this?

well... SE does a Lokahi toy4tot thing, maybe next yr we'll support them.. BUT still do the marine t4t too just that most of the toy budget will be saved for Lokahi's one

Sure there are needy kids everywhere BUT... with a gal of milk in the mainland costing 1.99, the entire cost of living much cheeper, i just dont really feel sorry for them...

the bikers do the T4T thing every year too. i've done a couple T4T cruises on my fatboy.
it's alway a different day than the car cruise, just because of the amount of bikes and cars would be a mess.
As for the toys being shipped to the mainland, i too could have sworn that someone mentioned on the radio that all toys collected here in hawaii stays here in hawaii.

Well...thats what it says on the T4T websites and all the ads.

But.....one of the biker guest on I-94 FM said it was shipped to the mainland....and that's why the bikers are doing their own T4T to benefit a community on the Leeward side....so the toys stay here.

I dunno what to believe anymore.

It was mentioned on Hawaii News Now tonight that the Marines collect toys and they are distributed in the communities that they are collected at. Which means, the toys that we donated, WILL stay in Hawaii and get distributed locally.

i've spoke to navy and marine personel in MCBH organizing this event and all said that all toys collected will benefit the children in hawaii. some may be shipped to othe islands and the biker guys may have misunderstood that. toys4tots drive is sponsored by marines and happens everywhere there is a marine base, many other military bases also do toy drives, so kids in the mainland and in other countries should be covered.
