Hi Pat, You running a Tesla too?
I was thinking I read you had a Polestar but I may be mistaken.
If running a Polestar that may change the equation for this kinda traveling.

Not our first long trip in the Tesla, but first long trip in very wintery conditions and below freezing temps. Stopping for charging was a non-issue. There were always chargers available, never had to wait for any, they always worked just fine. Due to the temps, we had to charge a bit longer than we normally would have because we needed to charge to 100% to ensure we'd have enough range to reach the next charger. In normal weather on these trips, we'd only have to charge to like 80% or so, sometimes less, which is easily 10-20 mins+ faster per charge. They charge slower the closer you get to 100%.
You're a brave man that's for sure.
Years ago, my step dad told me they ran into a blizzard a night and got stuck behind a multi-car pile up coming thru mountains near Asheville, NC- coming back from visiting my brother in Iowa- talk about a long and miserable drive.

Traffic was backed up for many hours and he saw MANY cars pulling off the road as they ran out of gas and didn't last while waiting for the road to clear- a person can freeze to death!

These are the unexpected things that can kill range for an ICE car(idling for hours in traffic to stay warm or cool) so that's why I was curious and appreciate your generous response.

I'm getting to the point if I hear the words, "Click that Like button and suscribe", I kinda take those videos with a grain of salt these days, just a little. Can't help it. lol
So many youtubers are in it for the money these days so info from Club Lexus contributing members caries a weight of X1000 to me.

Yes I have a Plaid that I bought a little over a year ago. Excellent car and I love driving it even though the build quality and software has been a mess.

sure, long (decades) until everyone drives ev's, but that's not really the point because as the video shows the driver had issues with waiting for an open charger (many bays, all full). of course with video editing, it didn't show how long he had to wait.

Plus at the end of the day, if its a huge PITA I will just drive the gas car on that trip a couple times a year.
no, the point is that's only your situation, and not what the video or this thread is about. millions of people make long trips multiple times a year. non-tesla ev's still appear to have charging challenges. that's the point.

And when did I say I am not talking about my own situation? I think its pretty obvious to everyone that I'm talking about my own situation. There are charging challenges for sure, but people build them up to be more of an issue for themselves than they actually would be. Thats my point. I think if most people think through those challenges as I have done and am doing in this thread for themselves they would realize those challenges actually aren't that big a deal.

Charging out on the road though is still a huge advantage for Tesla.
