Boat fires/explosions happen all the time, way more than cars at gas stations. Tons of movies and books about exploding boats haha.

If this step is skipped you can get a fire very easy if you are lucky or a BOOM as worse case.
.
This. ALWAYS use your blower as you're rolling into a marina approaching the fuel. ALWAYS use the blower for several minutes before starting an inboard. It's unlikely to blow but this is something I'd never skip, ever. That or just open the engine cover (easy to do, lift the sunpad up) when I refuel.

I had that ingraned into my soul lol at like age 5-6, I remember my stepdad STILL always emphasizing it. It was mildly amusing when we took delivery the guy was telling me stuff I 100% knew (like use the blower), but of course they had to do their due diligence.

It's also not a bad idea to run the blower when you're trolling, I do that most times as well. Hell I'll leave it on for hours sometimes and forget.

If AJ's poll was 33-0 he would have a chance to come back. Still can't believe the Vikings did that yesterday.

Hah. Yeah. 33-0 maybe a comeback. I can’t believe they came back either. Now I waiting for the Bills to miss a game winning FG in the Super Bowl

Glad there were no wagers involved lol. I probably wouldn't make one, I figured I was in the minority.

A long-time rule in marine-refueling is to wait at least five minutes after a fill-up to start the engine....depending on how much wind you have and/or how efficient the blowers are. Boats can, and sometimes do, blow up if that rule is violated.

And a long time rule, in fact the law is that you should have your car engine off while you’re refueling.

What's the reasoning of leaving t he engine on... to save .5 seconds of time from starting the car up again? keeping the cabin warm / cold? even the latter reason doesn't justify what amounts to idling the car. just seems wasteful to me.

There is a secret love for releasing as much fumes as possible into the atmosphere. Next poll will be "do you leave your car running in the garage while asleep?"

That idea has nothing to do with running your car at a gas station.

I'll waste all the fuel I want while refueling. BTW it's not an amount even worth mentioning.

If I leave my car idling for an hour I'm out 1/12-1/4 a tank pending what engine it is.

So if it is dangerous filling up your car while it’s running.

Why isn’t there a mandate forcing manufacturers to design in a shut off of the engine if the fuel door is open?

So tell me just how many dozens of gallons of gas I burn in 5 minutes while idling when filling up?
