Tesla needs to really update their features, quality, and interior layout to have any grounds to compare against a W223/223 or the D5 and latest 7.

They are very behind when you drive them back to back like I have. The only thing that they have is stock 0-60.

News on the yoke--they are peeling:

So I sat in a Plaid today. I was at the mall and they had a blue one with white interior in their little store.

Let me say, interior quality is DRAMATICALLY improved. I couldnt find any hard plastic, build quality was very good, every material was padded, synthetic leather, metal, carpet, carbon fiber or alcantara. It doesn't have the sumptuousness of say my Mercedes, but it has a high tech quality that fits what it is. In pictures some things look cheap like door threshholds etc, but in reality they are black anondized metal and feel very high end.

With the seat adjusted for me, room in the back was very tight, I don't remember feeling that way in older Model S's that I sat in.

They don't have a Plaid to drive, but they do have a Model S Long Range I will take for a spin soon.

I got the same impression when I sat in one a couple of months ago at the local Service Center close to my home. I haven't had a chance to drive one yet as they don't seem to have any available for test drives. I'm curious to read your feedback once you've driven the LR version.

From the videos I've seen I think room in the back is likely better...

Good thing you don’t need a car for a little while, by then maybe the quality will be better. I’ll just leave this quote here from a Tesla Forum member:

“The model 3/Y is better. I've inspected deliveries for friends and they are near perfect. The model S/X is a *sugar* show. They arrive with crazy manufacturing defects.

Next service center is two hours away. I'd have to book a hotel room there every other month and camp out while they spend days and days trying to "fix" my car.

This is my fifth Tesla and by far the worst in terms of manufacturing quality (2010 roadster, 2016 S p90d, 2018 model 3 performance, 2018 model 3, 2021 model S Plaid)”

no doubt because it was going to be on display, they took the 5 minutes to see obvious defects they all seem to have.

hey teslas are amazing, but the lack of qc is pretty inexcusable.

Ive seen them roll cars in and out of there, they don’t give it that much thought. The car wasn’t even clean lol
