Major Toyota/Lexus recall (500K)
It’s actually a good feature.
it’s just that when you turn the car off with VSC disabled and have your brake depressed, VSC will not default back to on the next time you turn the car back on.
you still get a skid warning light that it’s off.
in my books, hardly an issue.

If that's what this is I would consider this a good thing to have provided it tells you? I just wish they would stay exactly how you left them when you turned it off.
The flaw is that it can stay off permanently on restart Not supposed to. The only reason to turn off traction is so you can get “unstuck”….otherwise you stay stuck with no way to defeat it….then it automatically is supposed to go back on at speed.
Don't drive on icy, wet roads, don't tail gate or drive with excessive speeds. So. Cal people barring tail gaters should not have any problems not activating VSC if driving conservatively and safely.
That is why self driving vehicle software is so important. People have to be in the driver seat with cell phone being held in one hand while dictating or tapping out a text message and selecting images to include. The other hand may be used to hold the hamburger or taco. Can't drop the phone or food.

The only time I ever turn VSC off is if I use launch control. Is there any other time anyone ever turns it off? I doubt this affects anyone but I also agree that it should default to on.
