there's still quite a difference as the current 'lower grill' is inset and smaller, whereas this new one just seems more like an extension of what's above it, going with the current fad "wall of grill" nonsense.

I don't see how. They each mirror the grill design on the top. The lower grill cutouts are the same size...

As far as I can see the grille itself hasn't gotten larger, it's the patterns inside of it that have, giving it the impression of being larger.

Exactly. The top grill is a little larger, but the lower grille looks the same size.

sorry, but you guys are both 100% wrong. i'll try again.

new one, note how lower 'grill' extends beyond upper grill width to the width including the vertical bars:

also, the upper grill vertical bars are indeed vertical (making for a rectangular grill, unlike the current palisade).

steve, you mentioned the grill is only visible on upper trims, well this is a 2022 palisade caligraphy, top of the line... no idea what your pic is of... note how narrow the lower 'grill' area is.

this is because the sides of the upper grill curve in significantly, unlike the new one.

Grill is a verb
Grille is a noun

Using both in a sentence. I grilled the designers as to why they went with such a massive grille.

I don't think it looks any different, its perhaps slightly wider at the bottom. Thats my opinion, its not wrong, I'm a member here and you've got to deal with it.

Grill is a noun and/or a verb. Grille is always a noun. Here's a sentence showing all 3 uses. "I'm going to use my grill to grill burgers while looking at the new grille of my Palisade."

How about "I was going to grill burgers on my grill but I decided to grill them on the grille of my new Palisade instead"

I am very impressed with what Hyundai as a whole is doing. Current Palisade looks great, new one pictured here looks even better. Was in the ATL airport last week and they had a fully loaded Kia Sorrento sitting inside one of the atriums and it was great looking as well. The interior quality in Kia, Hyundai, and Genesis is top notch. Got picked up in a 2016 Sonata by an Uber driver - great infotainment setup, rear seats were heated, beautiful pano roof. I would have never guessed it was a 6 year old car.

I think anything under the Hyundai umbrella is one of the best deals going. My mom has a 2020 Santa Fe and loves it. I drove a GV80 and was blown away by the interior quality. My only gripe was it was the 4cyl engine which didn't feel as refined as the rest of the vehicle commands based on fit, finish, and presence.

To me this solves my only issue with the Palisade, that the front was kind of soft and wonky looking. This keeps the overall look, but sharpens it and fixes the proportions.

Agree on the whole about their product line. I had a new Kia K5 in Alabama last month and put like 450 miles on it, and I was really surprised how much I liked it. Genesis interiors are best in class.

Default 2023 Hyundai Palisade revealed

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade is here, and the most notable change to the three-row SUV is in the front fascia. But it's not the only update. The model has detail changes inside, along with a few new features and even a new trim level.

Styling-wise, the Palisade's taller, wider grille dominates the refresh. It blends into the upper daytime running lights, too. The headlights and DRLs are changed as well, with more vertical lighting elements. The rest is fairly unchanged except for the rear bumper, which has a thin, full-width reflector. There are new wheel designs, too.

There is a new Palisade trim level, called XRT, which adds its own exterior features. It has a dark chrome grille, dark alloy wheels, black roof rails and bumpers and side trim designed to look more rugged. Think of it as Hyundai's version of the Kia X-Line models. It also includes a regular sunroof and black faux leather interior.

Speaking of the interior, the Palisade's has a few subtle changes. The air vents span most of the dashboard now, and the steering wheel has been changed. Instrument panel graphics have been updated, too. But the major changes are more interior features. There's available heated third-row seats, faster wireless phone charging, adjustable second-row armrests and headrest wings, second-row side airbags, a digital rearview mirror, more USB-C ports and updated phone key features.

Mechanically, the 2023 Palisade is basically unchanged. It gets the same 3.8-liter V6 with 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. It's paired with an eight-speed automatic and either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The all-wheel-drive system does now feature a tow mode, though.

The Palisade goes on sale this summer. Pricing hasn't been announced yet.
