there is still a lid, it is still serviceabl. They actually specify 1/3 lower servicing costs compared to before.

Just battery pack wise, they are saving 90lbs with it, that is with old batteries.

so with new batteries, new strucural pack, new gigacasting body, they will save a lot of weight, increase range and performance.

^ ^ ^ As he said above, the key is weight. Reduce weight, increase power and range

That's good then, hopefully it's on the bottom

+1 - for avg consumer, there is no tangible difference in cars, with maybe slightly better range and/or accelerations. If I told my wife about these, she would just yawn. Now if they offered a red I terior or alcantara, that would be a different story.....and now with the price increases, I think this car goes from premium to more luxury which it can only compete in power....

the gigacastings may lower manufacturing cost, but something tells me EVs aren't getting any cheaper.

I cannot wait to get rid of it.
I heard a lot about the heat pump failures, but luckily down here, it's about 40F max temps. And we already swapped out to a 19" Gemini setup for better ride and mileage 😁

Noooooo! You swapped out the nice 21” black wheels for these? They look like my Plaid stock 19” wheels without the covers, I just couldn’t live with them but it seems a lot of people don’t mind them.

Thsts exactly what I did. I didn’t want 21’s and the 19’s look too small so I went with 20’s and couldn’t be happier.

Nice...are those the forged Martian wheels? Seems like you increased the wheels to 20 inch? Let me know if you saw a different in efficiency / range.

Nice, much better! The red calipers look so nice behind the black wheels.I actually like the original stock 21" wheels, they just look so different than any other wheel I have seen.

Just some 20" flow formed wheels weighing about 23lbs each. I probably won't be able to tell you anything about efficiency since 1) I have a lead foot, 2) I haven't had the car long, and 3) it's actually the wife's car. However, I'll be able to tell you any improvements in performance though with my Dragy! 😁

While the stocks look good, the 35+ lbs for each wheel makes it really appealing to replace. Im hoping I can get a s or x plaid soon like you, but the recent price increase foiled my near term plans

Thought I'd ammend this review with it against our new Model Y Long Range we just received. This was an order from last August that finally arrived, so decided to give our Model 3 to our son that is graduating, and I'd keep the MYLR for now until my I4 M50 or F150 Lightning comes.

TL;DR : the next generation Tesla RAV4 for 95% of the people

Highs: comfortable ride, great around town quickness, frugal on electron usage (unless u gun it), tech for the masses

Lows : very high price now, initial quality is still hit or miss, not as quick as a Performance model, still a bit sloppy in handling. Not as high tech as the Germans now...

Summary : the Model Y that is meant for the masses and it delivers with 90% of the quickness if a performance model and 100% of it's tech. You won't miss much from a MYP unless you really have an itching to go really fast (keep in mind you can add acceleration boost option later for 95% of the power of an MYP)
