Where? It's very rare to see the wood cracked outside of the wheels on the LS430 on any of the cars you mentioned. No Lexus has ever used fake wood to my knowledge, if it looks like wood it is wood.
The 430 is an early LS and the same years as the cars in question, the 400 would need to be compared to the ancient semi-hand built cars that absolutely fall apart.
He means the original LS400s which you did commonly see cracking wood on the consoles. That was solved by the Gen 2 LS400, outside of the steering wheels.

But those are still older than the cars he is comparing against? That's like saying the 07 460 was super slow vs the competition when that's not true, now a 2013 vs the competition? Yeah very true.
It's not fair to compare a original LS400 to cars 10 years newer.

I dont think he was comparing them, he was just saying that Lexus used to have that issue and they solved it.

I just saw this, this is patently absurd lol. The LS400's interior was an order of magnitude better quality and better put together than an old Jaguar's interior. Like I said, you're just reacting to the wood which you like. Maybach didn't even exist at that point.

I don't see it as absurd at all. It is true that the LS400's interior was screwed-together better than the comparable Jag Interiors (as was also the case with most of the rest of the car)...but the original LS400 interior was plain-looking and spartan in comparison. Later Lexus LS versions, of course (such as your LS460), were, of course, much better.

Eh......I don't know about that. The jag in the picture is under 20k miles and the glovebox is already out of alignment. The LS also low mile and you can see the near perfection in fit and finish. Same year cars
I don't even think the jag has seat memory and a lot of the features the LS does. Note all the exposed screws and the non-integrated look of everything. It's just not as clean or quality

You're confusing looks and quality. Jag interiors looked good in pictures and even in person, but that doesn't mean that they were better quality at all. They weren't, Jag interiors had crappy materials in places and they were poorly assembled, they creaked and rattled...
You mentioned my LS460 being "much better" and thats a great point...because it was nowhere near as high quality as my LS400's interior, even though it looked flashier.

Thats a 98-00 LS400, is that a 98-00 Jag? I dont think so...
Lincoln LS was in production for MY2000-2006, just a year earlier than the MY2001-2006 LS430. I'm not sure if it was meant to complete with the LS or GS, but it certainly couldn't hold a candle to either, and the proof was at the cash register. The Lexus LS helds its value well, while the Lincoln LS depreciated like a used diaper. It was a very weird car, a frankenstein between Lincoln and Jag, kind of like the Cadillac Catera.
