Is Lexus Making the Right Choice by Going All-Electric?
There are many countries around the world where Toyota sells cars that will not have any EVs for 20years. They just don’t have $$$ to build infrastructure.
Again people really don’t understand that not every place is Florida or California that gets sunny days and no cold weather.
i’m in NY and today we got 8in of snow with freezing temps.
BTW i haven’t seen sunshine for past 3 weeks, just rain and grey sky.
The EV future is greatly overstated.

The whole electricity is going to cost a bazillion dollars is so empty and hollow. He's going to enjoy his electricity prices until this supposedly exorbitant price ramp goes up. BTW, 40% would be negligible to what i would pay for electricity. In fact, you'd have to ramp it up 500% to even get close to what i was paying for gas (thats assuming I had no solar). Until then, it just sounds like negative nancys bitter about the EV transition.
What I think is people who don't like or understand something, or are scared of change will try and convince themselves how bad that change is, even if it's irrational. Even if the price of electricity goes up, it will never be as expensive as fossil fuels

Parent company Toyota recently revealed that Lexus will go all-electric by 2030.
This is about the future of this world & ppl that'll be here after we're gone. Basically a stepping stone in this time frame & we just happened to be here at this time frame.

It's not a necessary future for the world. It's essentially government/media-driven, and a lot of people actually believe it. But to go into that further would probably be beyond the scope of this thread.

The title of the thread is “Is Lexus Making the Right Choice by Going All-Electric?’ So no idea…if there is no hybrid or fuel cell alternative and only BEV, then perhaps they are making a poor choice as not everyone wants to plug in/plug out all the time..I certainly don’t but I also don’t really have a lust for a new Lexus either. . Plus what happens in cold weather with battery range loss. Too early to tell. So far, I find most battery electrics very unappealing in their exterior designs. Hopefully not the same for Toyota or Lexus. I find it hard to believe that every new vehicle can possibly be a battery electric and the way it is cheap to charge a EV today, might not be so cheap later on. I’ve alway said it will be more expensive to drive a green car in the future…especially in liberal Canada.

In a normal market, yes, but the pandemic, chip-shortage, apply-problems, and price-gouging have seriously skewed things for the last year or two. And, in my area (D.C. Suburbs) Teslas are quite hot, probably because of the influence of the nearby Federal government. Model 3s are flooding the streets.
