Life is too short to subject myself to a "beater" car. Realized that 2.5 years ago and haven't looked back since!

It's really the perfect DD. My mind might change if i could find the accord 6MT or civic SI/ type R for a reasonable price though lol
I got $5,000 for it in pretty good condition. The plan was to get a newer 6MT (possibly BMW) in the spring but then cars became way over priced. The Integra made me excited but I don’t really like the styling, hence the thinking about a new Si.

I would have kept the TSX forever if mechanically inclined like you.

I used to use my mom’s old 1999 Saturn SL2 as my beater for about six years. I drove it in the snow, heavy rain, in the hood, and anywhere with bad roads. After my mom sold it in 2013 I just drove my LS430 full time.

There was a while where my 99 ES300 was my beater but I had to sell it when I lost my job last year. I was using my 2001 GS300 as my beater but the key snapped into pieces, so I’m currently using my mom’s Jaguar F-Pace. She doesn’t drive very much and so it’s basically become my current daily driver until I get another GS key made. I look forward to going back to the GS as it’s more beat up looking than any other car I own.

The beater for hauling and trips to the desert, 2000 Tundra 4x4 with 95K. Beater I'm least concerned with damaging 2010 4Runner 4x4 170K that I let my 16 year old drive,. I thought she would be driving my 1999 4Runner 4x4 130K but that's becoming a classic I plan to be buried in it. After 4 months the 22 GX has less than 1K miles on the clock, I still enjoy driving the older trucks.

Really wish I had not sold my 1993 Toyota pickup I bought off a work friend back in 2010. It was of course a worthless lowrider 2wd model, 5 speed /22-RE, lowish 150k miles, not a straight body panel on that truck, had been hit in the front, fixed the hood/hood latch so it stayed down without a bungee cord. $600 bought it, with a clean title. Yet it had ZERO rust, ran/drove/braked about like a new truck, mechanically it had been taken care of well enough, but I did have to put a clutch in it, which was about the price I paid for it. Had that truck for 5 years, sold it for $1000 with 175k on it, it didn't owe me a dime, but I should have kept it.

I had a 2006 Mercedes Ml350 In my 3rd bay for a many years. Even though it got very little use it always had new problems. The worst was the oil leaks I was not willing to tackle, rear main, front seals etc. When I decided my LS460 was no longer practical for me I traded them both towards a swiss army knife. My Santa Fe does it all amazingly well and I’m loving the free space in my garage after all those years of owning 3 cars. My wife’s Grand Cherokee L is pretty bad *** but they are having lots of teething issues with this new car launch. She loves it even though it looks so long. The new shorter version coming out now will look way better.

Finally got around to posting these......here is the old truck lol!

Yes, I know it's out of coolant again. It needs a headgasket since the reman engine was poorly made and I'm lazy and haven't replaced it yet.

The only interior defects, I didn't cause these it came with them 100k ago.

Had the most beat to hell yet ZERO RUST 1993 Toyota pickup for 5-6 years. Not a damn straight body panel on that truck, yet the chassis was unbent, it drove straight as an arrow down the road. Ran like a damn new truck, had 150,000 miles on it when I bought it for $600. Granted I had to fix the hood(was held down with a bungee when I bought it), clutch was slipping. Fixed the hood problem easily, clutch was another $600 but I managed to drive it another 5,000 miles before it started slipping really bad. Drove that truck from 150k to 180k, sold it at 180k with a massively leaking water pump for $1000.

I had 2003 Honda Accord with 300k as a beater. It was a great car and still is. Sold it to a friend that did all the wear and tear maintenance and it’s still running great.
currently driving a 2007 Prius now, don’t mind it especially at the pump.

I picked up a rx350; with 150 k miles 2 years ago, now it sits at 190k; looks ; drives like brand new. I have a bike rack that is attached to it all times and a canoe that sits on rack for few months. I use it to go camping, biking etc. some light off-roading.

I used to always have a beater car and a nice weekend sports car when I got out of school. I had an old Corolla with 276k miles and then an old civic that I drove up to around 170k miles that I just donated when I was done with it.

I always liked having a daily beater because I didn’t care how many miles I put on them, didn’t care if it got dinged in parking lots and did minimal maintenance as I just wanted it to run. I even got into a little fender bender and never got it fixed just because it didn’t matter. There is something serene about not caring about the car.
