Yes, the neon is a fast car, but I wouldnt be caught dead driving a souped up rental car. Fit and finish, plasticky interior and the bug eyed exterior just doesnt do it for me. For 20k, I'd pick up a 95' sc300 and drop a 2JZ-GTE in there.

13.7 stock? never seen that... except in a magazine running on a gtech...
14.0 is the fastest i've seen at a track or a vid of...

turn up the boost, bigger injectors, etc and you can make some big power... but you'll just sit and spin

the Neon will never be a FAST car... its wrong wheel drive... did i mention its FUGLY?

looks like a dodge viper fron the front..
but i wouldnt buy it myself.. but the speed is their for under 20k haha.

look are a matter of opinon - I dislike the WRX and EVO profile - but I think the car can perform.
The point is it's fast - it's cheap - and it can spank most of the car out there.

i met a guy with a SRT, sat in the car and i asked you bought the car last yr? no i bought the car 3 months ago, why?

i didn't say anything, coz' inside the car, besides the loud exhaust, all i heard was rattling here and there, wind coming through the windows everywhere, and the rear suspension was making a funny noise.

so much for under 20k

 

ricer's dream imo. it was ugly with some crappy stickers and a funky wing. i told him "thats the first one i seen". he said yeah, its a turbo, and its fast. n e way...not my cup of pee!!!

 

For the market they are targeted, this is one hell of a car for under $20,000. It seems that when ANY car that comes out with decent HP we bash it to pieces on here. You must think for those who have Chrysler Family, this car will be dirt cheap, fast, serviceable all over the place, few upgrades your looking at 12's... For the MARKET they are targeting, this car is hitting the nail on the head, they will sell tons of these.

 

it's like if Honda sells a turboed Civic under 20k everyone would buy it. It's like Hyundai selling a Turbo Accent. Probably the fastest car under 15k but it's still a falling-apart Hyundai. Big deal.

Those neons are fast for the buck but hey not everyone can sacrifice even the most basic qualities and fitment for speed. I can pick up a 93' FD3S for like 13k, faster, handles better, looks better, and probably alot better quality than a brand new Neon.

FDs are great

 

Who the hell buys a Neon for fit and finish or quality? I think it's a GREAT CAR and for 20k, THE performance car to have. It makes the Honda Si's and the Scions or COrolla S downright silly
