Yeah. Stupid argument. I once watched a 10 year old boy dart into traffic and get hit by a car. He rolled over the bonnet, windscreen, and roof before dropping on the road behind. He picked himself up, dusted himself down, and ran off. A hood ornament would have disemboweled him. I’m presuming you’re against seat belts, airbags, tyre regulations, laminated windscreen, or any number of safety regs? *shakes head…*
Remember, you live in the nanny States that won’t even let you buy unpasteurised cheese. 😀 Or, get this, Kinder eggs!

The regulations, here in the U.S., mandated that hood-ornaments have a soft spring that allowed great flexibility if they were struck by a pedestrian. It's not like back in the 1960s, when they were solid projectiles waiting to impale someone. And, in fact, the soft springs that made the ornaments flex so easily also made them very easy to tear off.....a favorite teen-age pastime for years.
Its not hood ornaments that kill you or severely injure you in vehicle crashes with pedestrians, if you get hit in the right way where you roll off the car and land right and can get up and walk away the hood ornament would not have made a difference unless it is some big knife shaped ornament pointed up, as it would have been at lower speeds or certain angles.
