What is Ford Benchmarking Against the C8?
Spy photographers caught Ford driving around in a new C8 Corvette, leaving folks to wonder if they are benchmarking a new vehicle against GM's mid-engine bargain: https://www.corvetteforum.com/articl...-future-rival/
leaving folks to wonder if they are benchmarking a new vehicle against GM's mid-engine bargain:
Fair question, but that's mostly been driven by pandemic-related shortages, and there are many dealerships who aren't marking up their C8s as well. We have a list on CL's sister site, CorvetteForum. Also, even with ADMs, the C8 punches well above its price class.
Ford seems to be on the right track w/ the new Lighting, mach-e, Bronco/Bronco sport, Mustang as well as the SD's.......Being that the C8 is a niche vehicle & the Shelby GT500 pretty much will hang w/ the C8......at most I'd think a is if Ford can get the polar movement lower, possibly get the engine back some on the next gen.....Its really not cost effective to come up w/ a rear engine platform for Ford since they already have the GT......You'll find that GM is going to be further behind w/ electric trucks as the new electric 150 is going to outsell the Hummer, As how many working ppl are going to get a Hummer vs the 150? GM should be rolling on a electric Silverado.....That new LT2 is one awesome engine as GM went all out on it....as well as no gas guzzler tax......
