Default Cleaning Engine bay?

Cleaning Engine bay how often should it be done, what product are you using when doing so. Also are there any per-caution to be taken like not getting something wet or how cool should the engine be?

Precautions are going to be dependent on the car. Which vehicle's engine bay are you planning to clean?

Its not something that's necessary...its an 'as desired' thing.

This is not something I'd likely ever do, but if I did, I'd use a steam gun/wand.

I haven't touched the engine bay of my 2018 yet, but I do plan to clean it this summer. I watched a few Youtube videos, and my plan is to cover the battery and the alternator, then rinse the engine bay down with the garden hose. Spray on a degreaser or APC, agitate with a brush or towel, then rinse off with the garden hose again. Dry with a clean towel, then finish with an engine dressing product if wanted. I plan to do this when the engine is cool of course. I've heard that SuperClean and SprayNine are good cleaners to use - I have a bottle of SuperClean ready to go.

I've rinsed out the engine bay of my 4GS a couple of times. A lot of the engine components are already covered up, so I just covered the air intake with a towel. People recommend covering the alternator as well, but I didn't. Then, I just used my pressure washer at medium strength and sprayed it down. I just rinsed it quickly without blasting water at the electrical parts. Then, I let it dry in the sun and wiped any parts that I missed with a towel.
