Correct me if I am wrong, but I seem to remember leather being absent from the options list after the refresh in for the North American model year 2017.

Can’t correct you. I’m not sure. I don’t think it’s that big an issue in the modern era.
You could only get leather by opting for the Luxury Package, which was available for MY 2014-2017, and dropped for 2018. So no leather from 2018 and on.
What puzzles me, is that they introduce this more nimble IS in the states. Where a majority of peoples don't have any idea how to drive their sportscar in corner and where the consumers are OBSESSED with high HP numbers. Even their racetracks are round.
The european consumers would KILL for suche upgrades. But no... we will only have the last version in hybrid, until a potential completely new IS will come on the RC-Mazda Plattform (maybe, if it's still around). Marketing section of Toyota really need an upgrade too.
I will very probably stay in the shadow and wait the next RC with the straight 6. If everything I read is true, it should be a very interesting evolution for the RC. And if they fail to deliver, I can still import the RC350 from the states.
been seeing them trickle into lots in the last days... car in person looks sharp, think they did great job with looks,
it looks better than a 3 series..
interior is same size and really is too small for those over 5 foot 9 and over 180 pounds to be comfortable.
as I sat in lot and looked at car I was thinking nice looking car but 44,000 dollars for this, times are changing and this car will end with the electric product coming out

Are you sure you'd actually want a car from the U.S.??

It would be the best solution, yes. You can't find IS350 in Europe, and as long as I choose a "Cali" certification model, they are compatible with our pollution norms. Other advantage to a JDM import, the steering wheel will be left.

I don’t think there is much a market for Lexus in this segment. The engines were not changed to keep profit margins sky high. Of course Toyota could have updated the engines.
Review of the 2021 IS by an automotive engineer. It is interesting to see the insights and professional insider perspective he brings to the review. I'm only halfway through watching it and already I found his comments on the shut lines and build quality informative.
From 10:41, the reviewer compares his driving impressions of the Lexus 2021 IS vs the Mercedes C-class, Audi A4, BMW 3 series and the Acura TLX. Seems like the revised suspension and chassis did its job.
