It doesn't utilize the whole screen and when it's in full screen mode it's a tiny model that you can just rotate. No zooming, no tilting. It has weird big black border around the car

OK cool. I find the Avalon camera to be pretty good. There zone alarm on the bumpers which change color. Plus automatic brake stop. The parallel park trajectory is pretty great. I think it does go full screen for the Toyota. I will look tomorrow if there is a zoom, but not sure. I remember the BMW camera birds eye was pretty good from a product research thing I did for work. I am just not so sure how it will change someone’s life. But I see your POV.
One of the most expensive Lexus, the LC500 still doesn't have a 360 camera.
Tech has never been Lexus' strong point though.
I know tech specs can go back and forth etc etc, but the most expensive Lexus also has technical advantages such as a 10 speed auto, 6 piston caliper brakes, a multi-stage hybrid system among some stuff...while an 8 series does have many, many, performance advantages etc it does lack in some places. Nobody that I know of can get 34MPG highway like the LC500h, so there are trade-offs......I have no idea if BMW has it, but Lexus has their Climate Concierge which I have heard is pretty good.

True. I've seen 8 series owners complain about the lack of standard features like parking sensors

Glad you could see my point where some tech is on favour of Lexus, thought it was gonna just be the typical one sided Lexus hate. I had no idea that there were a lack of parking sensors. Seems a little odd for BMW to lack something like that. I wonder what else the 8 series is missing. Do you like the LC or 8 better?
As for the Y, weird there are no cooling seats, HUD, moonroof that opens up.

Haven't had the chance to drive either. Sat in a LC at the dealer. I think the LC looks better and is a better value. The 8 looks like a Mustang but it's a better performer.
They aren't standard but come with the tech package. The simple truth is that BMW offers more features than Lexus overall. That's undeniable. But BMW is generally more expensive and they have a performance tilt.

Thanks. I will take a look when I got time at that forum. Interesting on your thoughts on the LC or 8. I think the LC takes the Lexus design to a higher level. Sort of like appealing to a new customer.

Lexus of yesteryear was pretty strong with their tech....nowdays Lexus is trying but lagging behind the industry titans. Model Y QC are forgiven on the account of the tech.
yikes indeed, and worse, it doesn't even do self-driving, you have to keep your hands on the wheel. all part of musk's promised 'trust me' that at some future the hardware you buy today will make the car fully self-driving. if that NEVER comes true, i wonder how big the class action suit will be?

waaaay more expensive if you load up with equivalent equipment. the only thing that makes bmw's tolerable to own (unless you're loaded) is aggressive lease options.

To be honest Lexus 360 cam is a lot less refined rendition of the technology. Seriously lagging behind the bimmer.
I agree that BMW's 360 cam is superior to Lexus'. However, when it comes to the entirety of the rest of the vehicle, over the last 20 years BMW has been cranking out electromechanical 💩 in record numbers. In order to save money, BMW is using plastic components in the engine compartment, including the intake manifold, all coolant lines, radiator, et al--all of which fail massively earlier than metal counterparts. Their vehicles' depreciation rate is the highest in the company's history and in the top quintile for all manufacturers. An incredible 80% of BMW vehicles in Canada are leased because of their pathetic craftsmanship, quality, reliability, and dependability. Accordingly, while some drivers of Lexus vehicles might bemoan their vehicle's 360 cam versus BMW, they can take heart in knowing the entirety of the rest of their vehicle is massively superior to anything BMW and all European companies manufacture.
Sounds like someone has been watching a bit too much Scotty Kilmer... let's not pretend BMW was mechanically more reliable in the 90s compared to what they are today.
