Also, if you own BMWs, quite often to add oil.
That's one reason why so many owners keep them for only a couple of years on the lease.

My neighbor (in his 40s) saw me adding washer fluid. He was genuinely impressed that I knew how to do that.

I was (partly) kidding, but I am serious about usually doing it first thing in the morning, which, IMO, is the best time to check oil, as it has had all night to drain back down into the crankcase (and off the dipstick) and give a true reading.

Tell him you had to be able to do that to get your degree from Harvard LOL.

Default Ford Explorer best SUV

I had a Ford Explorer XLT 1996. Bought it with 40k mi. It was a prior rental from enterprise rent a car. Probably the hardest miles a vehicle can get are from the rental yard. I drove it for another 220k mi. It had guts, comfort, Safety, and good looks. I can't say enough good things about it. People were rolling them because they drove them like a car. Which they aren't!
I really like the looks of the new Explorers but not the price. I have moved on from SUV's. I'm selling my 2005 4runner which is a great SUV as well but, I won't compare apple's with oranges.
Loved the EXPLORER.
... just saying...

My first car was a 1995 Explorer Limited. It was a hand me down from my parents, had about 35k miles on it when I got it in 1997. It certainly had its issues over the years, we put a transmission it it at about 75k miles (that transmission was notorious for failures), had some suspension repairs, seal leaks, alternators, starters, etch but it had 220k miles on it when it finally got donated. All in all a very good truck.
