I dont think it’s an issue either, but it is interesting why they decide to do that when they definitely do sell 2WD RX and NX and UX

Less badges look better I think. But for the cars, when awd came to market, it was a big thing or addition. Lexus would want people to upgrade to awd when the majority of sedans if not all were rwd. Sort of different for crossovers from Lexus

Though that may be true for the 2017 (I couldn't say), it's not a simple blanket rule that applies to all RX models. My 2007 AWD didn't have it, for example, and I don't think some of the 3rd gen ones I had as service loaners did either.

On the other hand, ALL AWD models will have rear driveshafts. Foolproof.

Oh def doesn't apply to 2nd gen and below correct. 3rd Gen and 4th Gen yes for ICE RX350. Hybrids are a different story. on 3rd Gen RX450h if they didn't have roof rails they were FWD, BUT the kink is you can add them. The best way to tell if an RX450h is AWD is to look at the Energy Monitor for a rear electric motor

Good point, I didn't think about the hybrids. Which brings up an interesting thought--is it actually a problem to tow an AWD hybrid with the rear wheels on the ground?

I ultimately found out that this tow company was quite thorough, they put many photo shots of their towing operation on website and it shows they were using dolly for the tow. That indeed relieves my grave concern. This is my first AWD and having no emblem, plus I have never been towed before so I was kind of freak out.
Thanks for all your inputs. I still believe Lexus SHOULD place AWD emblem on ALL of their cars, given that they have done so to some.

I think your concern is over stated. There are many many AWD/4WD vehicles out there without emblems denoting they are 4WD, and tow companies have been assessing which drive wheels drive the cars for decades and decades. Also, how often does someone get towed when they aren't present when the vehicle is being towed? Not very often. The tow company is also liable for any damage they do to the vehicle when towing it.

If you're really that worried about it, buy an AWD badge and stick it on there but I don't think this is an issue.

Well--if you aren't there to tell the tow operator yourself that your car is AWD, are you worried because you are parking illegally?
