I wish Buick would build the American-market Encore GXs here, but, at least, I guess it's better to send the money to a Korean plant than to a Chinese one.
Yet you bought a car with off-shore labor....

For an Encore GX, I did not have a choice. I have already stated that I would have preferred U.S. manufacture...but Korea is at least better than China. I'm not sure what is so hard to understand about that. Several posters have already agreed.

Except for the engine, there are many things about the GX (among them, a perfect size) that are just right for my needs. It is an ideal vehicle for my day-to-day shopping, trips, errands, and driving/parking conditions. Yes, I loved the Lacrosse's comfort, but it had a couple of assembly/design goofs, and, at the time, it was more of a vehicle I wanted than needed.

You misunderstood. I love pano sunroofs, and the dark roof look. The pano sunroof has a map of Detroit embedded in the glass. That's why those pics above have maps.

That's one way of looking at it, but, with all due respect, you probably would care if you were an auto worker.

Take people looking for a house, for example. What if they said "Well, I don't care if Steve or anyone else gets the business...as long as I find a suitable place, settle, and move in. " I don't think you would enjoy seeing very many potential commissions go down the drain....you've got your own bills to pay and ends to meet.

That happens ALL THE TIME. Literally every day. On to the next one.

I have always liked to know where my products I buy come from. It is good to be informed. That is not to say that all items I buy have to come from certain places. However given the choice, I’d prefer an item to be made locally if possible. It is good to be informed. That is not to say that all items and buy have to come from certain places. However given the choice, I’d prefer an item to be made locally if possible. Then there is the idea of “heritage”. I once bought a $2500 Burberry product, the fact that it was “Made in England” influenced my purchase whereas some Burberry products are made in Romania, Hungary, and now they are made in China. I do respect that some don’t care where their products are made, and I am fine with that.

That was what I read yesterday, before I saw that post:

https://jalopnik.com/the-new-jeep-wa...det-1844882140

But I don't know for sure. I think it's ridiculous if it is actually true.

I agree when all else is equal, sure "Buy American". But all else is never equal; I'm making a huge purchase, and I'm buying the best car for me, no matter where it's made. Just like you are doing.

If accurate, this seems like a risky move. I can see going for the Detroit heritage and all but they could unnecessarily be limiting the appeal of the Wagoneer. Maybe offer as an option?

You're partly correct in that I would consider vehicle built in Korea or another country allied with us......but I don't think I could buy a vehicle built in China if it had my name on it engraved in pure gold. Some principles still need to be upheld.

Yes, I, along with many others, DO buy merchandise in Walmart/Target and other stores that is made in China (clothes, household goods, electronics, etc...), but, unfortunately, there's little choice there....the Chinese economy practically owns our retail-store business.

I'll buy the vehicle I like, and if it's built in America that's a bonus. My Fusion was built in Mexico and it was a fine car. My F-150 was built in Detroit and it's been solid as well. UAW workers probably make better money than I do so I don't feel a lot of pity for them like they are some special vulnerable class.

There are alternatives to buying clothes at WalMart made in China. You could buy more expensive clothes sold elsewhere. Im pretty sure I don’t own any clothes made in China.

Well, Thanks....I don't know about you, but I don't need to walk around looking like I'm hosting the Grammy Awards.

Back to the thread-topic, it's a shame that my late-aunt, who lived in Kent, OH, right in the middle of the Great Lakes' Snow Belt, won't get to see the new 2021 Wagoneer. She passed away a few years ago, from cancer (ironic, since she was married to a well-known local cancer-surgeon, who passed away in a boating accident). She had two Wagoneers, back in the days before the Explorer, Grand Cherokee, Highlander, etc... came along and basically took over that market. She loved the ones she had, although she admitted that the local Jeep dealer there was awful. She said she hoped another one would come along....now, in her memory, it does.
