Toyota RAV4 Prime
Competition in this segment is going to get ratcheted up by the new EVs flooding this market. It's a good move by Toyota but the base level EVs will probably have more grunt than this. This segment will be the most competitive segment in all of auto soon.
Without a doubt. This will be available as an SE or XSE. Currently the XSE Hybrids run about $38k, so this will easily top $40k. I'd bet it'll be around $42-43k for the XSE, less for the SE. The current Limited Hybrid is about $40k, but it doesn't look like they'll offer the Limited trim as a Prime.
The Ford Mach-E? Their low-end is "Select: $43,895 MSRP (EPA est. 230 miles, mid 5-second, AWD or RWD, 18” wheels)". A smaller CUV that's barely faster and has 230 mile range when the Rav4 Prime will likely go upwards of 500 miles.
The even have the insulting "California Route 1: $52,400 (EPA est. 300 miles, mid 6-second, AWD, 18” wheels)" which has better range but is slower than a Camry. Tesla has the grace to make their faster cars also longer range instead of milking customers by making it a choice. In terms of BEV design, a larger capacity battery automatically means more power available for the motors so this is entirely artificial on Ford's part.
Oh, and they can only build a maximum of 50,000 units because they're battery limited (unlike Tesla): https://www.autoblog.com/2019/11/20/...-e-production/
Toyota will sell every single one of the Rav4 Prime unless they price themselves out of the market.

it is already most competitive segment.... and base Mustang is slower... not that it matters at all as it will be completely different experience, and I have tough time believing they would be competitors.
