Default Scotty Kilmer on difficult BMW repairs.

IMO, this is one of Scotty's better videos. He still gets a little carried away with the vocals and arm-flinging, but, here, he pretty much tells it like it is on the difficulty of some underhood repairs and the ridiculous engine covers......something that I regularly mention in the Underhood section of my own reviews.

Oh, he definitely gets carried away in the decibel department......there's no question about that. But sometimes, what he's describing (as in this case) actually deserves some decibels...that's why I thought this was actually one of his better videos.

Only car brand I would trust at 12 years is a Toyota. Followed by Honda. I don’t think this repair and issue was as bad as the title of this thread states.

What would you suggest it be called, then? ........."The joys of complex BMW engine work?"

Actually, some 12-year-old American components can be quite reliable......such as the V8s and RWD drivetrains on full-size American pickups. They were built to do heavy work and take punishment.

This guy really drives me nuts. He has SOME good videos, but you have to weed through his clickbait headlines and ranting and raving to get to them. We get it, he likes old Toyotas and nothing else.

And "mechanics hate BMWs"? Last time I checked mechanics hate not having cars in need of repair for them to work on.

Every once in a while, he'll even pan some things on Toyotas, which, he admits, are not as well-built today as in the 90s.

Agreed that it's difficult to find a really good video from him......I posted this one because, unlike on some of the others, I felt his b*tching, on this one, actually made some sense.

BMW's are annoying as hell to work on so many things are overly complex.

Right, he'll pan NEW Toyotas. He hates new cars, likes 15+ year old Toyotas and Lexuses, but not nice Lexuses and nothing with a V8 because they "cost more to repair" which makes zero sense, especially the 4.0 and 4.3 V8s which are some of the most reliable engines ever made.

He looks at cars like appliances, its all about what lasts the longest and costs the least.

Scott Kilmer has some solid viewer numbers. I am a bit surprised.

I was reading some of the comments on You Tube about him:

That's because people often watch this kind of stuff for entertainment more than serious car talk, like with Alex Dykes. But, like I said above, more than once, in this video, Scotty actually says something. I wouldn't have posted it if I thought otherwise.

Alex Dykes numbers have seriously collapsed. Both have their purpose on You Tube I will say.

here is an interesting comment from You Tube.

This is the guy that said to avoid an LS430 as a used car purchase......lol.

(But yes, BMW engines are garbage for the most part.)
