Bye-bye to another sedan...this time Q70
A while back, my neighbor bought his son a 2009 Infiniti M35x - it was very attractive, different overall from most large sedans at the time..unique and not many people had them. His son recently sold it and bought a 2016 Q70 - definitely not as unique as it reminds me of an elongated and taller Q50.
Sad to see sedans get axed here in the US but the market and demand don't lie.

I hate to say this, as I generally don't like to see any auto company fold....but I have some doubts about Infiniti staying in the American market much longer. Seems like they are becoming less and less of a player each year. At this rate, Mitsubishi will probably soon be outselling them.
I don't know if it's fair or not for me to think this but johann did nothing for Infiniti and probably made the situation worse during his short stint there. They have no direction and no interesting platforms besides the q50/q60. They axed their fx rwd suvs even though they were popular and competitive.
Not surprised. Infiniti is a mess right now. I don't like anything in their lineup.
The brand peaked in 04-06 when the G, M and FX were new but it's been in decline for a while now.
Who knows, maybe in a couple years we'll have a thread on here about Infiniti's turn around but things are looking pretty grim right now.

The Infiniti renaissance in the early 2000s was due to performance and styling.
Original G35 sedan/ coupe And FX35 / FX45 were GREAT cars. Amazing styling, excellent dynamics and the exhaust sound.
Then after initial success they completely went away from that formula. Next gen of those cars were ugly and more luxury oriented.
Then the whole Q rebranding was the nail in the coffin.

Seems to me some are pleased about infiniti’s slow demise. Their September sales were horrible and they’re down 16% this year vs. last year, but they’re not finished. They still outsell many other luxury brands. They obviously have a pretty old product line. If they don’t invest they will become less and less relevant. Sounds familiar.

There are couple of major auto shows in the next 3 months or so, although Detroit has been bumped up to next June. Let's see what Infiniti comes up with in the meantime.....particularly at L.A. at the end of next month. I posted the major show schedules in a separate thread, some time ago.
that being said, the Q50 now easily outsells the IS and is neck-and-neck with the A4 but the performance is on another planet from either of those
