“August results were outstanding. It’s always special to set an all-time sales record and shows our potential to continue growing,” said Jeff Walters, Senior Vice President of Sales. “We’ll also be starting September with historically low inventory levels. IRVINE, Calif., September 4, 2019 – Kia Motors America today announced August sales of 60,730 vehicles, representing a 12.7-percent increase over the same period last year. Kia’s August was led by best-ever sales of the Sportage, the brand’s longest-running nameplate and the highest number of the all-new Telluride since the SUV was introduced earlier this year. Meanwhile, the new for 2019 sporty Forte climbed to new heights with best-ever August sales.
“Kia continues to outpace the industry, delivering best-ever August sales for two popular SUVs,” said Bill Peffer, vice president, sales operations, Kia Motors America. “Coming on the heels of Kia’s fifth consecutive year at the top of the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, the sales records set by Sportage, our longest-running nameplate, and Telluride, our newest model, are proof positive Kia’s ‘Give It Everything’ approach is resonating with consumers. SUV and two-door demand drives monthly growth for 6.2 percent gain year-to-date

Porsche Cars North America, Inc. Sep 04, 2019, 14:47 ET
ATLANTA, Sept. 4, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), importer and distributor of the Porsche 911, 718 Boxster and Cayman, Panamera, Cayenne, and Macan model lines, today announced August retail sales rose 13.5 percent from the same month a year ago to 4,636 vehicles. For the period January through August, total retail deliveries were 39,849, an increase of 6.2 percent from the same period last year.

Sales of the redesigned Cayenne were nine times higher in August compared to a year earlier.
"It is humbling to see such a sustained level of customer excitement for Porsche so far this year. The next-generation Cayenne, in particular, is living up to its reputation as the sports cars in the SUV segment," said Klaus Zellmer, President and CEO of PCNA.
Sales of the redesigned Cayenne were nine times higher in August compared to a year earlier, when inventory of the outgoing generation was low. The 718 Boxster also enjoyed fresh demand, with sales up 2.7 percent. The next generation 911 will appear in U.S. showrooms shortly, which is expected to ignite deliveries of the Porsche icon.
Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) sales in the U.S. totaled 2,166 vehicles in August, up three percent year-over-year.

Toyota Motor Corp.’s Lexus outsold both BMW and Mercedes-Benz for a second straight month in August, as the introduction of a new entry-level crossover model helps put the Japanese brand back in contention with its German foes for luxury leadership.
Lexus sales rose 4.6% last month to 29,931, beating BMW AG’s namesake brand by about 4,400 units and Daimler AG’s Mercedes by 5,160. The compact UX crossover has steadily helped boost the Toyota division’s deliveries since it started trickling into Lexus showrooms at the end of 2018.
Pulling Ahead
Lexus led the U.S. luxury market the last two monthsSource: Company statements
BMW still leads for the year with 204,960 cars and sport utility vehicles sold through August, followed by 196,779 for Mercedes and 190,691 for Lexus.
only 935 cars sold were a GS/LS/LC. Wow! It is dismal. The IS Series all by itself outsold this group of cars by 428 cars (or 1363 total units).
The crisis is becoming more real why there should not be a continued market for GS or LC. 2018 sales were 759 units. 2019 units dwindled down to 426 (44% drop
)
No wonder Lexus is doubling down on their energies into a revamped interior with 8" and 12" display offerings for 2020 RX models, which are the #1 product of all Lexus units at a healthy 9 to 11k in monthly sales. After the RX, the next biggest volume movers are the NX and ES. I see Lexus initially tweaking the NX to inherit a trickle down of the RX interior improvements for 2021.

There comes a point where the LX will outsell the LS. I think they are around 55 units a month apart. A that point the LX becomes the brands flagship.
why do you say that? used '19? that's current year! maybe a dealer demo, i guess...
but even next year i'd say a used '19 is likely to be the bargain of the century.
while sales are still tiny, the new this year k900 has already outsold last year entirely, so it's a small step forward anyway.
excellent car!

I guess I should have included the ‘18 MY (which sold even worse). What I meant was, at current pace, there will be roughly 500 ‘19 K900s driving around the entire USA. Not a lot of cars to choose from, if and when they hit the used car market. And I agree - excellent car at silly low (relative) price.
Kia is currently only selling about 34 K900's per month in the U.S. It makes you wonder If it will be around in the near future. it would be a shame if it was discontinued here but it's probably a non factor with the dealerships.
I think it’s great KIA is selling this car. KIA should also sell the Mohave in the US as well. 900 is a total non factor for dealers. KIA has other issues to deal with
