Quote: Took my annual trip down to see my doctor a couple of days ago...his office is not extremely far away, but almost a good hour's trip. On mostly 4-lane divided roads and a few stop lights (not many) I averaged roughly 32 MPG...pretty darn good, IMO, for a car of this size and power. I wasn't using the A/C much, though....it was a relatively cool cloudy morning. My previous Verano, a car with a lot less power and about 400 lbs. less weight, would have been hard-pressed to match that on the road. This 9-speed transmission might have a few quirks in it, but it and the fuel-management system on the V6 really help with the MPGs.
Did you ever add body side molding like you sometimes find as a drawback?

It has a thick chrome moulding from the factory, though rather low on the door for adequate protection. However, so far, so good on collecting door-nicks....I'm careful how and where I park, and the few small discolorations I have received have rubbed right out and disappeared with SCRATCH-OUT. No visible dents or dings yet in the (admittedly) thin sheet metal, at least from door-openings.

Can the crome on the bottom stop the rear doors and their edgy top part? or would a shopping easily hit the door?

Depends.....in some circumstances. But I practice the old trick of parking uphill from most shopping carts, so that gravity helps protect you. My legs and back, though not like in my youth, are still strong enough to walk a few extra steps....even with bags and packages.

I might seem overly-fussy or concerned compared to some vehicle-owners, but all this comes from many years of experience in driving/parking, and not even having to think about it.....it is simply programmed into my brain and occurs automatically.

Bumped the thread back up to say I just got a long owner-questionnaire, in the mail, from J.D. Power on the Lacrosse....so I'll be working on that a while. It's a long, multi-page form, with a LOT of questions.

26 months. It's an early production 2018 model, special-ordered in April of 2017 and delivered in late-August. (the delay, which actually required re-ordering the vehicle 3 times, was because of number of issues I mentioned in earlier posts)

I plan to keep it at least that long.....probably 4 or 5 years. With the Lacrosse disappearing from North America, I have no idea what I will be driving next. Most likely, another similar upmarket full-size sedan (if THEY stay on the market LOL) or one of the few SUVs I like...maybe a Corsair, if it gets past any teething problems OK.

Almost all full size sedans will be higher end luxury cars soon.

If they build the next Genesis G80 as solidly as the present one, it will be a strong temptation for me, particularly with AWD.

Anyhow......finished the J.D. Power forms. Lots of questions on the car, the dealership, service/satisfaction, and tires.

I like the styling of the 2020 G90 and the current G70m so if the next G80 is anything like that, I'd be absolutely all over it as well!

IMO, although Lexus still leads in general reliability, you can't beat Genesis today for the way they screw a vehicle together. Virtually everything on them (and the materials they use inside) feels like it was hand-assembled in the Black Forest by little elves LOL.
